Inverter went POP when supplying too much voltage, can I repair it?

Worth a try, if you can figure out what the specs were.

EG4 18K - What not to do in parallel

Try running an ethernet cable parallel to a 120 vac circuit for more than a few inches. You'd be lucky to get a 10Mbps connection. I've seen it happen. There's a reason that they don't run signal cables directly next to AC lines. It only takes a few inches spacing to mitigate it.

EG4 18K - What not to do in parallel

AC will absolutely wreck data comms. DC not as much an issue (based on experience).

Solar layout diagram software: what do you use?

If you stuck my brain in a DIMM slot in a PC, it would error on that bank, with the error code WIT. "DIMMWIT detected in bank 1."

Solar layout diagram software: what do you use?

I use my brain. It stays there. Well, until I forget something. And have to repurchase the right thing, pay shipping again, wait longer.....

Need EVE 280K Batteries: Luyuan? Qso? Docan? Other Companies?

Which makes me think it is very possible that if there was an issue with the order somehow, like a bad cell, they'd blame the customer. Maybe not, but just a gut feeling based on their attitude.

I cut down a huge tree, and didn't hit my ground mount panels!

I love every Makita tool I have. They work awesome. Not had a Milwaukee but these have been fantastic. Hammer drill, circular saw, sawzall, impact wrench, weed eater. hedge trimmer, jigsaw - fantastic. I still have decade+ old 3 Ah batteries that still work! Not as good as new obviously but...

I cut down a huge tree, and didn't hit my ground mount panels!

I've considered buying a Makita saw because I already have Makita tools and could use the same batteries.

EG4 18K - What not to do in parallel

Oh I agree, especially now that they know they need to address it, even if it is just a "don't use a weird random cable!" warning (though ideally they have a fix that prevents them from acting this way in the first place).

EG4 18K - What not to do in parallel

One other thing - apparently UL looks at the provided documentation, tests it according to that, and verifies it follows their rules following said documentation. They don't test various installation errors. Maybe they should. It does explain why I've seen some extremely crappy products still...

EG4 18K - What not to do in parallel

The rules for DME (durable medical equipment) is far more strict than other stuff. I used to work for a DME company and did some of the development work. Don't try to compare those rules with UL and inverters.

How do they get the containers off the truck? I presume that's what they're talking about. The truck driver can't just dump the container off the trailer can he?

EG4 18K - What not to do in parallel

Definitely voluntary. I've found white and gray to be used where the cables would hide better along trim/baseboards, but any mix of any colors for any usage. Big ugly rolls of dirty yellow and blue cables stuffed under workstations in offices. Red cables just because that's what was on hand...

When you were starting your solar journey, what was a service you would have paid for? (if any)

I have piles of parts left over from various projects that were the wrong ones, or I never did get to, or spares in case I screwed up too much, etc...

    SOK batteries shutting off

Seems like a weird feature. Frankly that should be able to be turned off from the battery itself, IMO.

When you were starting your solar journey, what was a service you would have paid for? (if any)

How far you willing to take the "all" part? Did you build your own cells? Mine your own copper ore? Smelt it, turn it into wire? Fab your own PCBs from raw materials? Even then, did you build your own equipment to do so? Huh? huh? DID YOU? *crosses arms*

EG4 18K - What not to do in parallel

Yes, BUT.... What happens if you take other inverters that are not supposed to be in parallel, and hook them up in parallel? Normally we'd say they'll blow each other up. Spark city. Smoked. Fried. But... what if they didn't blow up? That's sort of what happened here. They operated...

    Stuff does not last forever.

This was a residential main breaker. How do you "adjust" those? Most of the time they're preinstalled in the panel. And I dispute your claim that people don't just wake up stupid one day. I've seen enough done stupid things in my lifetime - AND have done my own share of stupid - to know that it...

    Stuff does not last forever.

I've seen a main breaker with the handle broken off before (not mine). Presumably someone tried to turn it off, it wouldn't turn off, and they pushed harder, and broke it.

When you were starting your solar journey, what was a service you would have paid for? (if any)

My first (current) system was totally installed by someone else. I was not going to get on my 2 story roof and wrangle panels by myself up there. Nope. It is grid tied microinverters. They did all the legwork, paperwork, permitting, etc. And I paid for it. Boy did I pay for it lol. ROI isn't...

    Stuff does not last forever.

Never been an issue. I cut it, pull the meter, do my work, plug it back in, and hang the cut tag. When the guy comes next, he sees the cut tag and does a quick inspection to make sure I didn't bypass the meter, and pops a new lock on it. Adds 30 seconds to his time at the meter.

    Rethinking my battery box

I bought a Vevor branded one. Has a stand to help cut square (ish, reviews indicate it may need shimming to make perfect but that's ok). It arrived today but I have not unboxed yet.

    Rethinking my battery box

I haven't done too much recently (busy with spring planting project), but I did get the bottom pounded flat-ish. I have a portable band saw with base arriving today to make cutting my steel a lot easier. I did order another box to put my bus bars and some breakers in. Got a different brand...

Take the branches off the tree and use those sturdy trunks as your posts for ground mounts!
