  • Post in thread: Wire ripped out of panel junction box

I did post this in the solar panel section. I wasn't familiar with "AC solar panels" and was asking for clarification but it seems to have offended you. I see now it's a regular DC panel with a microinverter on it - I wouldn't call it an "ac solar panel" but if that's an accepted term then good...
  • Post in thread: Why are there micro and string inverters instead of just wiring PV from the panels to the main inverter?

I've been searching a lot to try and understand the reason for micro and string inverters and I see a lot of comparisons between the two types but I can't find anything that explains their purpose. Some things I have discovered as a benefit but not necessarily a reason for their existence...
  • Post in thread: 5-20p to L14-30R for Ecoflow Delta 2 Max

I tried plugging the Delta 2 Max into my Reliance transfer switch https://www.electricgeneratorsdirect.com/Reliance-Controls-306CRK/p50917.html and no power comes through to the switch. I used this cord: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08CN39FG6 There is a green light on the cord that...

What "AC wires" are part of a solar panel?
  • Post in thread: Solar Generator grounding loop?

I have an EF Delta 2 Max wired up to solar and powering a few house circuits of 120v-only loads via a Reliance ProTran 2 transfer switch. This allows me to offset some of my electric consumption and reduce my electric bill. Is it ok to have the AC charge port plugged into grid power so if I run...
  • Post in thread: Providing 200A service to the service panel via EF/Bluetti

I recently saw the video of 8 Bit Guy powering his home with 2 EF Pro units to provide 240V service but it was via a single 30A breaker to his service panel. This limits to 30A so although you can run your electric dryer and electric stove you can't do that at the same time and you have to be...
  • Post in thread: Charge 2 Separate Ecoflow Delta Pros with 1 Solar Array?

Nice to hear! I have multiple EF units at my house each powering a circuit and each with their own string but some strings get more sun late in the day due to the position whereas other strings are shaded as the sun drops. I was hoping to just put them all into S/P and output to a 4-1 to 1-4...
  • Post in thread: Wire ripped out of panel junction box

I ripped a wire (or lead) out of the junction box crimp. I'm not sure how to reopen the crimp so I can reinsert the wire. I tried sticking in a flathead screwdriver and twisting it and some needle nose pliers but it seems to agitate the thin metal that's actually connected to the panel and I'm...
  • Post in thread: Solar Generator grounding loop?

At the 9:00 mark he shows connecting the ground and neutral which is how I did mine. I apologize for my misunderstanding of your statement that it doesn't transfer the neutral or ground but from what I can see the neutral on the transfer switch is connected to the neutral on my main service...
  • Post in thread: Why are there micro and string inverters instead of just wiring PV from the panels to the main inverter?

I don't understand this answer. I'm trying to understand the reason that these micro inverters and string inverters were conceived. Wiring cable directly from the panel to the main inverter would cost a lot less than adding these individual devices to the overall cost.
  • Post in thread: Why are there micro and string inverters instead of just wiring PV from the panels to the main inverter?

I have 22x100W panels on my roof (5Sx2P, 6Sx2P) and all wired directly down to the combiner box and then to the main inverter. I did all this before I came across the concept of micro inverters and string inverters hence I was asking. Everything is working just fine for me so I was just curious...
  • Post in thread: Why are there micro and string inverters instead of just wiring PV from the panels to the main inverter?

Thank you for being patient with me. I wasn't aware that a main inverter, like an EG 6000xp, was also called a string inverter, or perhaps it's always been called string inverter but with my limited knowledge I referred to it as a main inverter. I'm still not clear how a micro inverter helps an...
