I’m a home owner who with a growing interest in DIY solar! Found this community a few weeks ago and learning a bunch about my options for installing a solar system at my house.
Current or Future Solar Power System
I have an old 3.3 kWh system on my roof that was installed by the previous home owner in 2009. Grandfathered in to NEM 1.0 but it doesn’t really matter since my home consumes almost 100% of what it produces. I believe the system offsets close to half of my energy consumption but I have no batteries and no power in the case of an outage.
I’m looking for to replace this entire system with a new one. My ultimate goal is to generate all the power my home uses during day and night without needing to import any power from the grid (but maintaining a grid connection as a backup ).
