Could be same or newer firmware, Enphase said anything below ...2.61 would not AC couple and changing grid profiles would not make a difference.

Finally, I got a response to an Enphase ticket after a few rounds of communications and Enphase has a new IQ8+ firmware version r06-v02.61.01 supporting AC coupling with IQ8 inverters. They upgraded 38 IQ8's last night and I tested AC coupling this morning.

Occasionally, I have IQ8's not reporting or producing less then neighboring inverters on same model panels with no difference in solar irradiance. Sometimes, the reduction in production corrects itself after 2-3 days, sometimes I remove the inverter, take it offline, test it and re-install it...
Case (1): No loads and Case(2): 1.2 kW resistive load, no difference in AC coupling. Enough battery charging reserve (80% SOC) to prevent any type of power curtailment, frequency constant at 60 Hz. Trying to develop a good incremental test plan, that's why this setup is a totally separate system...
You're on to an interesting behavior of IQ8 inverters. When I connect 14 IQ8's to XW-Pro off-grid, they start producing with a suitable grid profile but at a reduced rate, less than 50% of PV source. How would they know to produce less? Impedance checking?

Changed grid profile back to IEEE 1547 2018.
Array of 14 IQ8's starting after 4 minutes to perform anti-islanding checking, consuming about 0.6 W total, quite different from the Outback Radian profile.
Then they come online but produce...
Just tried to AC couple the 14 IQ8's with AC coupling switched off in the XW-Pro. They still do not start producing power.
Will try to test other grid profiles, but Enphase profiles are limited by region and I do no see a profile for "sunnyboy".

You're correct, the XW is raising frequency and voltage to stop micros from producing, anything is allowed in off-grid mode, no regulations to be complied with. This is not a violation of the on-grid behavior according to the selected grid profile. The 62 Hz applies only to on-grid.
