The inverters user manual just show limits for 102%, 110% and 125% overload. Doesn’t show the surge numbers. It does say loaded motor capability 4hp.
I’m guessing a soft start is smart to have regardless.
Some pics.
The storage rack is from Home Depot as the shelf spacing was beyond perfect!
The two positive cables going to the busbar are equal length as are the negatives.
The little grey box under the EG4 is where the SHP connects to the “grid”, ie, the 120v output of the EG4.
What a journey!
Disclaimer: I’m a newbie overall. No doubt there are much better ways to do what I’ve done here. :)
I originally wanted to have a battery backup for the house and recharge the batteries from a generator, saving tons of fuel in a power outage. I didn’t know what that was...
Today, I connected a 48v server rack battery to the solar charging cable and plugged it into the DP. Momentarily the DP showed 100w coming in then went to zero and stayed there. DP battery was half charged. No damage was done. I reconnected the DP to my solar array and it’s worked normally...
I would get the EcoFlow Smart Home Panel. I have one and control it from my phone app.
There’s no easy way to keep the DPs balanced as far as I know except to try to split the typical loads evenly between the two.
I’m trying to figure out a way to use a separate large battery bank to feed my...
Are you using the SHP as split phase?
If so, make sure all the odd numbered circuits are on the same phase and likewise that the even numbered curators are on the other phase. If not, the error light comes on and the panel won’t work.
I ordered 6 of them for Black Friday and there was no tax or shipping. They are back ordered but mine are shipping soon.
Wil is cautious about the cable size. I’m going to have them as two parallel sets of three and for now, they won’t see more than 30a of draw, long story short. So cable...
On the flipside, the DIY batteries can take much more that the 1600w limit of the DPs. 800wh of transfer to the DP x 24 hours equals 19.2kwh of energy transfer per day. I’m setting this up for myself and waiting for the server rack batteries to arrive. I’ll probably have one DP extra battery...
I bought 6 aolithium server rack batteries to feed the DP’s. They haven’t shipped yet.
I found a step up converter to raise the server rack output voltage to 90v but it will be about 5% in power loss.
I also bought a DP extra battery ($1100) and thinking that’s a better way to go than the...
