With all the negative press some vendors continue to receive, I continue to be blown away from the service at CC.
Had a minor issue with an MK3-usb device, sent an email to CC. Just received a new one in the mail today. No hassles, no BS, didn't ask for a return. Just like the inverter I broke...
My house has 15" thick interior walls made of limestone. When I first installed my Shunt, I had to walk to within sight of it to find it on my phone.
There was an update a couple months ago that was described as fix for some Bluetooth issues, don't recall exactly, anyway...
I noticed a huge...
I'm attempting to design and install an upgrade from my current, dying 12v offgrid system.
Sorry it's not very pretty to look at, and maybe oversimplified, but it's mine.
I need opinions, all are welcome.
Thanks for looking.
I have been charging my new rack batteries with the generator for about a week because of gray skies. Today is perfectly sunny so I watched to see how it went.
My SCC TriStar ts-mppt-60 shows good volts/amps. (Pic attached) It sees the battery voltage, and I can see the amps on the clamp meter...
Plenty of sun here lately. Also no need for A/C or heat this time of year. Batteries have been balanced and hitting 100% every day for a few days.
Yesterday before sunrise, SOC was 94%, should be sunny for the next few days, so I turned the panels off. 84% soc this morning, trying to stay out...
I noticed this for the first time yesterday.
I've been slowly ratcheting up the voltage on my newish batteries for balancing purposes. Yesterday I set the SCC to 56v, but noticed the batteries were showing up to nearly a volt higher. The SCC and smartshunt agreed on this.
Odd? Normal? What...
Second post, reading constantly, but still very noob.
My current plan is to upgrade from 12 to 48v offgrid. I've been trying to cram knowledge as quickly as possible as my current system requires a few hours of generator every evening to make it through the night. The AGMs are dying.
After...
So while I had my back turned, upgrading my system from 12 to 48v, my midday array quit on me. I'm sure it's my fault, as I had these 3 panels in parallel without fusing between panels. (Now I know better). But these 3 have been working in this configuration for a couple years without issue...
I have been seeing pics of other's shunt history and it looks a lot more informative than mine with bar graphs over multiple days. Is this a version difference or a setting?

Happy Saturday everyone!
Just trying to see what's normal/common. I typically see about a 10% average discharge of the battery bank overnight.
Curious what other's are seeing.
Longtime lurker, finally made an account.
I will begin just to express my gratitude for finding this community. Most everything worthwhile solar diy related came from reading here.
I have built what I intended to be an offgrid home that makes sense. It took me many years to build, meanwhile I...
Yesterday, after nearly a week spent fully assembling a new complete system ordered from CC, I was torquing all the connections. The final connection to the Victron MPII 3kva inverter negative, the terminal bolt twisted off. The torque spec is 12nm, my wrench goes to 11nm and had just...
I build simple but very sturdy ground mounts (recently survived 95 and 80mph winds a week apart) from Tposts driven about a foot into the ground supporting any random steel pipe as crossmembers, all held together with baling wire.
Would this be sufficient for PV grounding?
I am trying to gather the proper fuses for an upcoming offgrid MPII 120v 3kva inverter installation, the Victron manual suggests a 50a fuse for AC-in and out.
I understand the AC-out goes to a 50a breaker in the main service panel, but what breaker is used for the AC-in from the generator?
Can...
