Mini Dayton DC Motor for Wind Turbine project?

thats true, but a turbine spinning even at 1750 rpm is a very dangerous thing. RPM would be a function of blade diameter, my 60" diam at 250 rpm makes me want to stay far away from it. It was designed to operate in the 60-120 rpm zone.

Mini Dayton DC Motor for Wind Turbine project?

It would work of course, the question is how much usable output you would get. Also need a way to overdrive it to reach the rpms it states, pulleys I would guess. lot of work but may be a fun little project. I have an old dremel motor I will probably play with for the same reason, fun and a bit...

Why why why does my wind turbine not spin

the proximity of the roof is causing turbulence. I have the same issues, and a taller mast is in its future. Placement should not be near any buildings, Mine is between two barns, so I use the funnel effect of the wind between the buildings to spin it, but that only works for winds coming from...

Not a complaint, a call for improvement: 2FA login, please make answer valid for longer than 15 minutes.

I do hate the race against the clock on those things. On the crypto exchanges, 2FA is used multiple times during a transaction, and the response time is like 30 seconds, so it becomes very frantic trying to put the numbers in correctly before the timer runs out after waiting to even get it. Its...

    A hydro electrical system idea

I was trying for 20 panels, I think it was about 50@ so maybe 1k worth, shipping was 2k alone. Yes, across the country I know, (and they didnt have any in the Atlanta facility), so I managed to get 6 used 185w panels for 50@ , but they were 3 hours away, closest I could find. Used panels not...

    Wind generator max rpm

There should be charts available for wind generators, showing Voltage, current, wind speed, rpm all against each other. I had to develop my own as I made my own generator, but some manufacturers may post them, others just tell you (and advertise) "1000w generator" when this is likely the...

    A hydro electrical system idea

I tried to deal with SanTan twice now, good prices for reasonable equipment, but when I got to the shipping costs, I stroked out. three to four times the cost of all the panels to ship them.

    Wind generator max rpm

Depends entirely on how the motor itself is wired. I wired mine for reaching charging voltage (14.5v) at a low rpm (60), but poles, windings, etc. all contribute to the end result. I suspect that 500 rpm is where the common motors are wired for, ie a car alternator really doesnt start putting...

    Stalling Issue on turbine

Well, just an update for now. We have had a good windy month and I have come to a few conclusions. My startup speed is to high, needs to be closer to 5 mph instead of 7.5 mph. I can raise the height or increase the blade size to help that. Furling is not fully functioning, While my tail is...

who is still burning wood in april?

My old Better N Bens leftover from the 70's fuel crisis is finally getting some rest. Now I just fire it up to to the spring rain dampness out.

Solar advice for 70watt draw ?

I have one like that, and it does work well, although controls are limited by the app, but it does what I need. It will still need to connect to a router of some type for remote applications.

Wondering why're many people still building 12/24v system ?

I started with 12v, and upgraded to 24v since al I needed to do was add two more AGM batteries. Easier on the wallet than going 48v with a single battery, as I have read 12v in series is not a great idea for 48v use. Small 2k system though, if I expand then I will consider selling everything and...

how to hook up shunt meter

Suppose I wanted to measure current coming from the wind generator, (I already have a shunt on the negative side to measure use), how would one wire that? Would it be the same as wiring on the negative side except reversing negative black for red positive?

Have any of you all looked into building a Tesla magnetic Wheel?

OP is talking about something like this - As far as a "Tesla Magnetic wheel" I didnt find much of anything except what we know of as an F&P motor, or an opposed circle of magnets on two wheels pulling towards each other. No demos on that device. Nor do I think Tesla ever cared much for magnets...

    Stalling Issue on turbine

Yup - got that, overnight delivery I think. Had to tie the turbine off for that one. Did do some minor testing around the outskirts of it though. Had some decent wind on weekends but nothing really where I need it (15-20 mph sustained), although March isn't over yet. The weather station and...
