I appreciate your reply -- but surely there has to be a way to do this short of burning off a few hundred amp hours in my bank before connecting them? I could manually switch my charging sources from one bank to the other battery but looking for a more streamlined solution if possible...

I'm probably just not wording this correctly, but here's my use case: Existing 48v 200ah lifepo4 battery bank (2p16s fortune 100ah cells, overkill solar bms), charged with hydro and solar. We stay between 80-100% soc typically thanks to the hydro. I want to add another 48v 100ah (16s) battery...

Finally got a chance to test this: Batteries in low temp charge cutoff, hydro voltage rises until diversion controller diverts. All good!

Gotcha -- I wasn't sure if there was maybe a value that would show it on the VRM Dashboard like here (not my system, a screenshot I found online but it seems as though this is an existing feature/value of VRM)

So Victron is out... Kind've hard to believe as I'm pretty sure they sell a lot of inverters for 24/7 use. FWIW the Samlex weighs in the same as a Victron Quattro (66lbs)...

The Outback runs 3-4 times the cost of the Samlex -- so I'd hope that it had some features that made it that much more valuable... A bit like comparing a Corolla to an S-Class Mercedes... The Samlex is a good call, I'd also look at Victron Multiplus or Quattro if you can get by with single...

Hey Bob -- thanks for the reply. Solid wire is more common, but stranded is allowed and used all over the place (THHN/THWN), and the highest amperage connections back to the pole / transformer are also stranded and secured by screw terminal. The DIN rails appear to be appropriately rated...

Trying to decide if I want to continue with ring terminals on everything, or move some stuff over to din rails and terminal blocks (ul listed, 600v, etc)... What says everyone? Everything in your house wiring is screw terminals, and it saves an expensive ring crimper and/or doubts about...

Was about to post this very same question. What is everyone using to disconnect 48v batteries / packs / banks? Most of the marine stuff is rated to 48VDC, but not the 56VDC+ you'd see. (Blue Seas, etc)
