I did mine a bit different. I am using the inverter in place of shore power but can still connect to shore power if needed. It's pretty simple set up using a Sungold inverter and 4 48v rack mount batteries and 8 415w panels. Basically I bypassed the original shore power. That now goes from the...
Today I was having a record day of input from solar and then it all fell apart. Kept having to restart solar assistant as it kept locking up. The Pi 3 LTS kept overheating even with 3 fans on it. But then later the real issue hit when suddenly nothing happened. No matter what I did I couldn't...
Yeah, its a learning curve for sure but i fianly got most of it figured out lol. Now to figure out why I have the following issue. battery 1 67% Battery 2 41% Battery 3 42% and battery 4 40%. I am thinking it is a battery cable lenght issue
Hate to hear that. Hope you get it figured out too. Since going to the USB port on the inverter instead of the RS232 I have not had any disconnect issues with the inverter. Now it only disconnects if the internet goes down and it has automatically restarted the two times that's happened. Not...
Yeah that could come in handy for another project I have in mind. I'll have to look at it more. Actually one thing is adding some fans as my inverter tends to run warm. The solar inverter and batteries are in the back room of a 35' camper that's basically a storage room.
Yeah I replaced tbe wall wart with a USB 5v 3a for the Pi and it's running better and cooler. I have the Orange Pi 3 LTS. Seems fine so far with the power supply.
And if the cable doesn't work for that then I have another use for it on a second computer.
Ah, ok. Interesting, I actually looked at that the other night for some reason ? Interesting that's the one you used? Guess I will check it out. Thanks!
Well moving it did not work. I did however find a work around where so far it hasn't disconnected and that's using the USB B port on the inverter. That tells me the issue is definitely involving the RS232 console port.
Not really anywhere I can move it too but I will try. I did note the pi was getting really hot. It was running at 147 degrees and now I have it down to 105. Runs longer now but still kicks off the inverter side.
Wow, well Kenny I just found a new update from solar assistant and now all 4 batteries show with all the correct information! Now if I can just get this darn inverter to stay connected. Oddly no issue with batteries disconnecting, just rhe inverter.
