Is it possible to protect your Solar System against EMP?

I realized that China gets more money with US shoppers having the internet and our computers.... so no EMP from there...certain middle east folks might behave more that way....

How did your solar fare during the January '24 freeze?

So its good to read of these "adventures". OUR Glitch was weird and can someone weigh in on it? As far as I can tell the water in the sump crock got so cold the sump pump had a starting problem and tripped a safety. In the attached monitor screenshot you see the pump kick on about once an hour...

    DIY Soft Starter circuit

Was also looking for soft start but for sump pump motor surges. Ended up going to a much smaller pump. Runs longer though- no free lunch with Mr Newton.

    DIY Soft Starter circuit

I ran across this in my notes this weekend......COULD THIS WORK?? Light bulbs were once used in the day to keep PA drivers from blowing. The resisted soft start is bypassed by a delay timer right after a "diffused' surge through the light bulb

Cheap chinese horizontal wind turbine, an in depth exploration.

am using 2/0 and we get a 1V drop at 185' wire length (2/0 aluminum, so same as 1/0 copper essentially) 48v turbine. so far never witnessed over 30 V

I have one 3 phase AC. You can get voltage across either lead plus the common. must find the common with voltmeter two pairs sharing a common. Mine aren't marked on the chinglish machine.

Hey we added a turbine to our all panel setup - short video

NOT yet. Just put it up yesterday. Lotsa steps and drama cause its off the road and we needed lifts etc. PLUS the MPPT controller that arrived is defective. So I will publish stats soon. HOWEVER so far- not noisy at all so far and its Southwest Wind Power predecessors were rather loud in gusts...

Hey we added a turbine to our all panel setup - short video

Hi all. so this summer we did a storm damage replacement which ended with adding a new wind turbine and 4th charge controller. I extended the old wind tower from 52' height to 65'. Idea is for night time charging. We tried this 20 years ago with a pair of Air 403's and it didn't work so well...

SO I SEZ TO HER "Well, do they flicker more than candles!?"

Flickering. Just read many threads here. Some say its the lights, some the voltage. I think either way we didn't notice it with incandescent due to the time the glowing filament remained hot between surges or dips.... thoughts?

Adding a man lift/ service lift to a backyard tower

mostly haircuts so we can keep the animals below happy as well as retain some privacy...one forum guy said "I trim my trees at the grass" I liked that. Pic is current haircut state, will fell 3 large surrounding trees after the push to get the turbine up before winter is done. Then again in 5-7...

Adding a man lift/ service lift to a backyard tower

so at 100/ft the tower is 64',so maybe 60 well hole @ '100/ft= $6000.00 Add in rack and pinion or some such gear lifting mechanism, that canm femain submerged for the 15 year expected life of the turbine... priceless. Wiring, lift or gear or pulley motor and devices. waterproof fittings ...
