On of my thoughts was to make the batteries removable and then I could bring additional batteries and a separate charger; rotating the batteries if necessary.
The FAA limit is 100wh per device. Interestingly from what I have researched the FAA has no limit on the number of devices, but some airlines do have limits.
Thanks for the recommendation. This would be a good option if they had a direct DC outlet jack - I am trying to stay away from a inverter. But it is an option and you are correct about the possibility of an airline objection.
Hi! It's been a busy couple of weeks.
My Cpap can run off of 12 volt DC and I have a very good idea of the energy requirements. Since I don't use the heater it is pretty low.
You are correct about the battery chemistry and I would prefer LFP - I was thinking about size more than chemistry...
Hello,
I am building a small battery pack and would like to hear the opinions and ideas of the forum. It will provide back-up power for a CPAP along with the usual phone/laptop charging if needed. The CPAP requires 12 volts at a max of 3.14 amps, well within the capabilities of a 18650 pack...
Good Evening,
There is a stream however it is not located on the property, otherwise I would consider hydro.
I was out there today looking at the fall sunlight and it may be doable - more to come.
Where the cabin is located they get some wind but it is not steady, nor is it smooth due to the trees. I have thought about using the wind, and there are some new technologies that appear to be promising, but I have not done much detailed research.
If I go with just having a battery backup...
That's a good point to consider. It may be I have to wait until the owners are able acquire the neighboring property, which both situated more towards the south and has more open space.
Good Morning and thank you for the suggestions, especially the idea of checking obstructions. The affect of partial shading on solar production is something I am learning about through this forum. It may be that I will have to use solar optimizers on the panels - what are your thoughts?

Good Morning,
Thank you for the reply and the link to the PVwatts website - I will incorporate that into my analysis. If the numbers line up then the goal is to take the cabin completely off-grid. If that isn't feasible then the goal will be to build out a system that can provide backup power...
