I agree, I am dedicating the size of a two car garage for the equipment room and storage tank. Fortunately, land and bricks are cheap as chips here.
My calculations are roughly 1,000 L of -50 C liquid to maintain 22 C over 12 hours for a 2,000 square foot house. I am configuring at least three...
Hopefully, it is possible to reconfigure in the software. However, if it is not, you could consider a little DIN rail/MCB box with a three minute delay timer (upon power on) and a contactor.
There are better ways to do this without messing with the utility. Put a relay, contactor or ATS of sorts between the appliances you want to power (e.g. office circuit, hot water tank, washing machine, microwave circuits) and the micro inverter. That way, you are doing it more safely and without...
Hello,
I am looking for an off-grid inverter recommendation for 100 kW with a specific voltage of 440Y/254 V. 50 Hz is preferred, though we can also work with 60.
I am using hundreds of 350 W panels, so I can configure the wiring of the panels as is best for the inverter.
Thanks in advance!
You are absolutely right. Although exporting to the grid in the future would be a nice option to have, it is not the initial engineering plan.
I am currently considering two SOL-ARK 60K-3P-480V inverters (https://www.sol-ark.com/sol-ark-60k-3p-480v-n/) in parallel, based on recommendations. I...
I will take a look at Sol-ark, thanks for the suggestion. I found the model here: https://www.sol-ark.com/sol-ark-60k-3p-480v-n/. They even have a specs sheet in Español. :) I am curious to consider running multiple inverters as separate systems as well, depending on the capacities; i.e. one or...
This is what I've found on the Sol-ark voltage selection. Do you guys have any more insight with those particular style of inverters?
Update: I have a request out to the Sol-ark engineering team. I will post when I hear back!
You could need an isolation transformer (two in open wye/delta or three) to avoid troubles.
A more custom transformer could also act as current shunt (similar to neon sign transformers with limited current). However, it may be more cost effective to accomplish this with buck boost circuity...
I would probably want to bury the system in an underground vault if more than a coupe kWh... That is an excessive amount of kinetic energy.
I was about to open a new thread with this exact subject, but I see it is already being discussed. I am looking into flywheel energy storage for my...
I have been very impressed with super capacitors in my electrical engineering experience. I would like to explore the cost effectiveness of building a super capacitor bank for energy storage to use at night time, especially considering the costs of these components from overseas is decreasing as...
A side note; something cool about having the neutral in a three wire 208Y/120 or 220Y/127 V service is that you can derive a system with the missing phase to properly drive three phase equipment if you ever need to. I.e. by using an open-wye open-delta transformer setup:

Hello,
I am looking for an inverter or series of inverters that can be combined to output 440Y/254 V 50 Hz at 100 kW (~33 kW per phase). I am having a hard time finding this. I was in discussion with Gro-watt about custom firmware, but the communication went dead. Is there a way to override...
Is the nominal voltage field programmable on the SolarEdge SE100K-US? We are looking for a similar set of inverters, with a target voltage of ~ 440Y/254 V.
This inverter will be completely off grid (no connection to grid in sight), with critical loads downstream using an ATS to generator before...
I was looking at the SolarEdge SE100K-US, (480Y/277 V) but I am not sure that its voltage will be adjustable and I would not want to budget extra for buck boost transformers if there is an inverter that can put out exactly what we need.
I am diverging a bit from a typical setup, specifically...
Hello,
Would you guys please send your Growatt firmware ".bin" files to me if you happen to have any available? I am a software developer thinking of purchasing some Growatt inverter, but I want to check whether it is possible to change my custom EPS voltage requirements.
Thank you
I was looking at the manual of the CSI-100K-T400, but I am not clear whether it has off-grid functionality and the precisely adjustable voltage. If you have any experience with this line of units, please let me know...
I am calculating how much more would be required. What do you think? The cost of the 1,000 L tanks is also a factor to consider, whereas investing that money in additional solar panels for a more powerful compressor could mean having surplus power down the road that can be more useful (e.g. sold...
I am looking to engineer a system that maintains and stores 1,000 L of a glycol/water mixture at -50 C during the day. My calculations are that it is more economic to store a large volume of cold liquid rather than buying the batteries to compress on demand in the night time. I also have an...
If you want a transformer, you could use 208:240 V split phase or a Scott-T transformer to better balance the load.
Many three phase generators are reconfigurable to split phase, if there are enough poles/winding taps to do so on yours.
Update:
I have been told that these are the three available off-grid configurations:
Perhaps there is an aftermarket way to hack it if I can gain access to the configuration files or flash with custom firmware?
Does anyone have any suggestions for a different set of inverters that can reach...
OK, I think that arithmetic nips it in the bud. Thanks for that.
The only use case I can comprehend is perhaps a small bank to handle the brief surge demand of power through an inverter for things like motors or heaters starting up.
If you want to eliminate any possibility, you could set up a couple panels with DC charge controller near the satellite modem and use an ethernet-fiber media converter on both sides. The fiber will be non-conductive.
A reasonable enough path is to use Ethernet surge suppression on both sides...
Thanks for confirming that, this ratio lines up with my previous research.
I think for sure filling the tank with mostly gravel could work well. This idea is resonating with me quite well. Water is free for me, but the propylene glycol is a bit inconvenient for the initial set up otherwise. Do...
