50% was an arbitrary value for testing my system. Just set it to 10% if that's what you want. This will be SBU. Yes, grid charge off in all time slots.
Use TOU. In my example from 1:00 to 7:00 it will pull up to 2KW from the battery until battery SOC is 50%. Also set Energy Pattern to Load First. During the day PV will power loads and if inadequate PV, then draw from the battery. Excess PV will charge the batteries.
So, the Sol-Ark disconnects from the generator, but leaves the generator running OR it charges the battery to 95% before connecting to the grid. Generator running after the grid returns is certainly undesirable.
I agree with your point. Off grid TOU should be separated from On grid. Maybe this...
That's not what @Carlos_Sol-Ark said in this post. He specifically describes TOU while off grid. The Power setting is ignored while off grid, but TOU can be used to select if Gen Charge can be active in any time slot. % in TOU sets the SOC end of charging.
If batteries discharge down to Start%...
Early April, I had 4 Pytes V5 batteries installed in their outside cabinet. That's about $8500. Three Simpliph 6.6 with base and controller is only slightly more. The solar installer I contracted with is a Briggs and Stratton dealer. I'm sure he would have proposed the 6.6 if it was available at...
This is an interesting battery. It will give HomeGrid competition. I don't know what other inverters it may be compatible with. The literature says No Dip Switches. And yes, it's interesting to see a battery listed to UL9540 3rd edition.
Pytes is also introducing a stackable battery. I don't...
Are you aware of the 120 rule? Most 200 Amp main panels have 200 Amp bus bars that limit the backfeed breaker to 40 Amp. That's 7680 watts. The Sol-Ark 15K would be overkill. And yes, connect to the Sol-Ark grid terminals, not load terminals.
I found normal 100% SOC voltage for these batteries to be 56.7
If I turn off TOU, battery voltage will range from 56.8 to 57.1 when PV is producing.
The Sol-Ark wants to utilize the batteries like a shock absorber. With TOU turned off, this doesn't happen and PV production is curtailed. The only...
Midnight Solar will give them a run for the money, but I don't see any others. EG4 has questionable support and the only UL9540 batteries they're listed with are EG4.
Recently I watched a webinar by a battery manufacturer featuring the 15K. They had a Sol-Ark rep to speak for the 15K. A question came up about when the optimizers would be available. The answer was Sol-Ark will leave the optimizers as a 3rd party product.
