I started with a similar setup:
I have a critical loads panel (always on) and then a "semi-critical loads panel" (and circuits in the house mains are "not critical" loads)
I control with a manual knife switch (in my case, the semi-critical loads can energize from grid or from the sunny island...
You may not need load shedding.
