Background
Out building needed lighting for morning and night operations. Building uninsulated. Started with battery operated lighting. Failed, too many batteries used. Upgraded to a 60 watt poly panel, PWM scc, 20ah AGM battery and a 12v remote controlled led flood light. Failed, battery not big enough capacity for light draw and time used. Learned about panel shading, partial. Studied about using multiple panels in series or parallel to increase power production, battery capacity, along with going with a MPPT scc. Upgraded, so I thought, moved array location to a better but still partially shaded area, 160 watts of solar by adding a 100 watt panel in parallel to the 60 watt existing panel, an Epever 1210 scc, interior and exterior led strip and flood lights (noting there current draw) 4.1 amps total and a VTank 55ah battery. Finding out later by not doing enough research first, about using mismatched panels. This last upgrade has worked to about 75% of my lighting needs. Solar production not enough in fall and winter due to limited PV wattage, add the partial shading and battery not being recharged fast enough for the usage of lighting over the 2 to 3 weeks of biggest demand. Leading to my next planned upgrade/expansion. Replace 60 watt 2p array with 4)100 watt in 2s2p(partial shading early morning and late afternoon), new adjustable tilt array, array dual breaker shutoff, Epever 4210an and a DIY self heated 200ah 12v 4s LiFePo4 battery. Got everything, except waiting for the 4 LiFePo4 cells to start to build my battery. That and the Spring time. Found Will on YT which lead me to this forum and all of you hear, learning from all of your tips, suggestions and experiences.
Current or Future Solar Power System
2-60 watt 2p = 120 watt. Epever 1210, VTank 55ah battery. Spring upgrade to 4 100 watt 12v in 2s2p tilt array, scc Epever 4210an, building a 200ah LiFePo4 4s 12v
