EG4 LifePower4 no UL Label - Failed Inspection

The crux of the question is this: If the signature solar batteries are ETL listed to UL standards, but not UL listed to UL standards, does it matter? What I am gathering from these discussions is that technically, an ETL listing is fine, it means the battery is safe. However many jurisdictions...

    Rapid shutdown switch question

Is this situation also a concern on the EG4 6000xp inverter?

Rapid shutdown for non-grid tied and no inverter system

I would go with a version of the Tigo product that offers statistics, just because it will be interesting to look at the data on your phone. The cost of optimizers for 4 panels is minimal, it will be under $200. I ended up going with the TS4-A-O optimizers for one string and the TS4-A-S for the...

6000XP Wiring Diagram for System with Optimizers, EG4 Battery

I have come up with a wiring diagram for an off grid setup using the Powerpro wall mounted battery with the EG4 6000xp off grid inverter. I have a package of material that is 20 pages long, but the key part that may apply to others is the wiring diagram. This info is not really in the EG4...

    Totally confused Noob

On the UL certification the eg4 battery (powerpro) has a 9540A thermal runaway test so it should meet most inspections. This doesn't have anything to do with the inverter, the inverter doesn't need to pass that test it is the battery that has to pass it. The 6000xp passes the test of ul 1973...

    Eg4 6000xp with transfer switch

i wonder if you will fully utilize the capacity of your 6000xp running only 120 volt circuits. I guess you can do it with the mini split but the fridge only draws 3 amps and led lights (20 of them) only an amp or two.

2024 fire code for small ground mount systems ~ 3 kw?

The solar wire will pass through the basement level, exit to a service panel area, and then reach a second IMO DC disconnect. Double pole. That is the point at which it joins the second solar wire which will come from the roof of the garage. Then the 2 wires do a 180 back into the basement...

2024 fire code for small ground mount systems ~ 3 kw?

the solar wire passes through the basement and joins with a second string in conduit running to the indoor inverter.

2024 fire code for small ground mount systems ~ 3 kw?

ok. though the panels will be almost 6 feet off the ground at the lowest point. 11 ft at the highest. ok I can do this. I assume I don't need the full 10 gauge wire size for this. can i get away with a 12 gauge wire? The max voltage is 330 and max amperage is 11A for this single string.

2024 fire code for small ground mount systems ~ 3 kw?

I'm going to use galvanized fence rail on top of the posts. And ground my panels using aluminum rail tied to a ground rod. Are panels non flammable? I thought it was just the wiring that was flammable. Also I will have garden space under the panels. I don't think there is any potential for...

2024 fire code for small ground mount systems ~ 3 kw?

I'm about to mount 6 Bluesun panels on a hill in my yard. Bifacial 460kwh. I will need to get it permitted because it will be tied back to my house to my EG4 6000xp, and it will have a shutdown capability using Tigo monitor units. While I have seen several videos with panels mounted on wood...

    EG4 6000XP Released, ordered. Let's Go!

I am trying to understand the placement of the CCA and the TAP with respect to the inverter. I have all three and I must select an inverter location that allows my shut off button to work properly without running crazy wires everywhere. Also I am confused as to whether the CCA is powered from...

Hooking the EG4 6000xp to a Manual Transfer Switch with 10 or 12 circuits

Can someone explain how this is dangerous on an EG4 6000xp which uses "common neutral" wiring and also the the inverter expects a ground neutral bond at the main panel. So if the neutral is grounded then why is this a safety hazard? If you take a look at this video, where the presenter seems...

Hooking the EG4 6000xp to a Manual Transfer Switch with 10 or 12 circuits

Thanks for the info on this. Is this safety problem also true with other transfer units, like the ConnElectric (pic below)? If I end up going with critical loads panel, then what size and brand of panel do you recommend? I would of course prefer to reuse my existing Siemens Q breakers but I...
