Agree, sometimes he misspeaks,he isnt a pro, just an average guy learning on the journey so I take him at that face value.Good guy IMO.

Weve come a long way in last few years, great times for solar!
  • Post in thread: Introducing my solar powered (chest) refrigerator. It sits in an off-grid community garden and gets filled with fresh veggies for the local food bank

Beautiful setup. I love those chest freezer conversions to refer,3 family members all prepared for doing this,is there anything out there thats more efficient?I use the inkbirds to run them currently as freezers with oF to 3F temps making a cheap freezer as accurate as a very expensive...
  • Post in thread: Chest freezer to fridge conversion setpoints?

Set mine 34-37F and thats exactly where it stays. No need to set restart delay, its not going to start right back up with the inkbird and its minimum 1 degree temp differential, mine is stock setting whatever that was. They also dont dry things out,a head of lettuce is crisp for around 2 weeks...
  • Post in thread: Rut Roh! Battery freezing danger and an quick fix

Right from the start if your battery has any potential to freeze buy the heated batteries! However since you are an early adopter of LFP you didnt have that option but prices are dropping so going forward its get the heated batts and good to go.Consider nothing else IMO,cold snaps happen...

That is a great idea.Mine is just in a pill bottle with thermister pushed tightly thru lid and a bunch of holes drilled in it,I like your idea, mine does indeed cycle with opening.Question,Im set to low of zero F,how does the frozen oil work in that regard? What brand oil? As for power usage you...
  • Post in thread: 120V Heating Pad for 48V Battery in Garage?

I plugged an Inkbird 120 volt temp controller into my 120 volt inverter, plugged my 120 volt water bed heater the 2 200 amp batts sit on into inkbird, set at 36F.On at 35F,off at 36F in 20-30 minutes and the residual heat gets em up to 38-39 degrees.2 cycles a night when in the 20'sF uses 7% of...

Propane was THE option when solar wasnt.Nephews new Toy Hauler trailer just had a propane fire.He ripped out everything that ran on propane. Propane is expensive, can get scarce, and hauling tanks are a major PIA says Fred Flintstone, hauling electrons arent says George Jetson. Propane was nice in...

Watch the video 120 volt,he has several on the setup.2 friends off grid both upgraded to them, says best theyve ever had and thats the consensus bigtime, all I know about em. Im using the chest conversion Im currently using as a freezer, will refer it back when needs may come.
  • Post in thread: Stand-alone chest freezer

Is this telling me that runs at 100 watts on standby!!?? Thats 1/2 of my 1200watts of panels summer power right there,i couldnt even run it in winter at standby?? Am I understanding that right? 2400 w/hrs a day?? Question: What is the power consumption of the inverter with no draw on it...

My freezers 7 cf and 14 cf run 55-80 watts on high end, sounds spot on to me?
