I went with a rotary type transfer switch that came with a metal box. have the off grid inverter on one side and the grid feeding the other side going to the load ( a mini split) so I can power the hvac from either source, cost about $125 with the box, so not super cheap. came from a canadian...
assuming you can use the 30 percent federal tax credit on a new battery....
I know sok may be a better brand than eg4 lifepower, but the eg4 new is now $1150, plus tax. minus 30 percent.
I would not offer more than about 70 percent of what a new one cost after tax credit, so about 1/2 of what he...
I also run 2 of the original lv6548 with the 250v limit. if I remember correctly, MPP said that up to 22 amps was OK.
I think @Zwy here on the forum has the best idea and bought eg4 charge controller $400 to connect directly to the batteries in addition to using the mppt on the inverters to...
do you have a pool or spa running ?
I guess its a plus that you have so many hvac units vs fewer larger ones.
there has to be a way you can lower costs of hvac by shutting down/raising temps of some areas at some times.
cant just set 11 hvac units at 70 without a huge bill in the summer. are...
Main reason I wish I got the Iotawatt instead of the Vue is that you can keep the data local and send to Home Assistant. with the Vue it only sends home assistant the every 1 minute data not the 1 second data which I would like.
OK. interesting post. maybe presented in a slightly know it all manner....
I agree that trying to get a fully automatic/smart load shedding/complete backup/while away from home/never fails
system may require a crack pipe and/or a millionaires budget
to get maybe 90-95% is easily doable, and...
even the vue 2 shows what you send back to grid. it shows what the inverter produces and then subtracts what your loads are, showing "net production" which is sent back.
I guess its not an actual measurement
plz share any info you get on the vue3, my guess is they will always force you to use...
best bet is to start with an Emporia Vue monitor system. You need to figure out where exactly all that power is going. they are pretty easy to install, does not require an electrician.
I have been using 2 of these inverters for 2 years now, no problems
Watts247 is selling them new for $1099 each, if you can use the 30 percent tax credit that makes it around $800 each for a new one. Can not use the tax credit on a used one
If you can use the tax credit, I would not pay over...
there is a cheaper way that many people use for backup power
you can install a generator interlock in your main panel and a generator inlet box
the way it works, is that when power is out, you turn on the breaker connected to the generator interlock switch the mechanisim (interlock) then forces...
these are "double throw" transfer switches with 3 positions. Utility-OFF-generator
not to be confused with a disconnect switch which has 2 positions On-Off
you need a double throw, 3 position switch for what you want to do
both 100a and 200a manual transfer switches are avbl, even from home depot
100a is $219 and 200a is $544, both made by GE
just install the transfer switch between the main panel and the subpanel and add a generator inlet box to the transfer switch
what size breaker is in the main panel going to...
