Revived an old 400Ah 16S bank that had a rodent-damaged, unreliable BMS. Swapped it out with a Seplos BMS in order to be able to get it communicating with the other batteries on the wall.
It's alive and taking a charge. Still waiting on some beefier bus bars and need to enclose the BMS before...
This was back in 2021 - I managed to short out a LifePo4 pack (before my coffee kicked in). This happened in the process of dismantling a LifePo4 48V/400Ah battery in order to replace it with another battery. I didn't think about the fact that the pack was still live while unscrewing the nuts...
I am in the middle of removing and replacing some very heavy (220lb/ea) wall-mounted LifePo4 batteries. When I installed them initially, it was a 3-person effort (two people with ropes/pulleys, one navigating the things into place).
Now, I'm trying to do this on my own. I bought some 1-ton...
Having a somewhat difficult time finding a place locally that'll take back my 10kWh (200Ah x 48V) LiFepo4 batteries. Wondering if anyone has had any success doing this, and what kind of places they went to?
Do I need to deconstruct the batteries into smaller/individual cells?
The original...
I'm retrofitting a Seplos 200A BMS (V1 - bought a while back) to an existing 48V 16S 400Ah battery that came with our house (but had a rodent damaged BMS). The existing battery has a very nice set of terminals and a big contactor that I'm hoping to continue to use.
Trying to find the best...
Power went out a few nights ago. System is grid tied with a pair of Outback Radians and Iron Edison/GSL 10kWh LFP wall batteries. Opened up one of the batteries and was shocked to find melted wired and evidence of smoke. The other 3 batteries seem to be in similar shape (though I am honestly...
I am scratching my head to understand why this is happening:
My setup looks like this: 4 Iron Edison Re-Volt packs in parallel hooked up to an Outback Power Systems setup:
I hooked up a Pi with 4 CAN/USB adapters and some Python code to pull metrics off the BMS-es in these.
The best...
Our RV came with a single 100Ah GoPower branded LiFePO4 battery and I’d like to add a second 100Ah battery. Based on Will’s recent review, the CHINS battery seems very appealing. The specs are very similar between the two batteries. Am I making a big mistake mixing two brands and different...
I tried searching and came up empty. My Iron Edison Re-Volt batteries came with a BMS I'm seeing all over AliExpress in batteries using the same enclosure. So far, I have come up empty figuring out what BMS this is - or more specifically, I want to figure out how I can interface with it and pull...
Long story, but I ended up with extra LiFePO4 batteries. They're Iron Edison and were installed in series, providing 48V to an Outback system. The system wasn't reliable, likely due to an issue with the BMS (it kept tripping every few days, notice the rodent droppings). If you were in my...
I have 3 10 kWh batteries that failed catastrophically and need to be disposed. They’re mounted on a wall and weigh 220lbs/ea. I manually wrangled the first one off the wall and dragged it along my garage floor, but it left a streak of liquid. I cleaned it up with gloves but am now worried about...
