JK BMS cell count error

Pulling my hair out. After lots of reading and Dr Google, I can’t pinpoint the problem.

Just hooked up the 2A24s jkbms. Turns on fine amd seems to be working fine with the exception of a cell count error.

Cell data is only showing 7 of the 16 cells.

All data pins have continuity through the plug connection and the random
Cell error is not common to either plug.

Attached is a screenshot.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

In the pic here I swapped the #2 and #3 leads. The data did move but not to #3 as I would have expected. It went to #4. ?‍♂️. I thought JK was a good brand. Am I missing something? Seems very odd new out of the box.

I had the same thing happened.

Plugged in a spare and it worked fine.

Bad BMS.

It’s either the connections or the BMS.

Does this mean you checked the voltage at each pin (2-17) against pin 1 (negative)?

What version firmware are you running and have you changed firmware or the app recently?

Happen to have a pic of your battery wiring?

no it means i checked each wire for continuity from the terminal end through the plug connector to make sure each plug was good. I also checked voltages at each cell and they are fine. I have done the easy/obvious stuff. But just to put it to bed, I will do this the next time I am messing with it but I have to assume if each voltage is correct and there is continuity, thats not it either.

I would have to connect to it and check the firmware. It's straight out of the box so I doubt thats the cause.

There was a recent app release made quickly for a different issue. Maybe try the new firmware as that would be a common support center recommendation.

yep. I am on 4.10.1 and i am getting voltage on all pins that is adding up to the pack voltage at #16 @ 55.91V.

Edit. For anyone reading this in the future it wasn’t a bad BMS after all. With a good night sleep and some coffee ?to calm the frustration, I took another close look at everything. Turns out, one cell lead was out of sequential order and it threw everything off. It’s working well now.

Lesson learned: double and triple check closely. For me, it was check #5 or #6 ?‍♂️

Always install the harness in correct sequence, verify the continuity of each lead to ensure you have a good connection and only after then do you connect it to the BMS. IF the wires get installed out of sequence & connected to the BMS there is a possibility of damaging the BMS, a failure may result shortly after it goes into operation. The same applies if someone accidentally runs (+) through the BMS as opposed to the (-), it will still work but the BMS' lifespan is affected if it does not outright fail as a result. These are sensitive electronic devices and must be treated accordingly.

Can anyone here manage to submit a support request at JK BMS site ?

The hour clock just circles forever.

On my JK's there was an extra lead wire that had to be connected in the right cell or half my cells didn't show up. You can't just start at one end and go along or it won't work. Stupid extra wire.
