A few months ago, I bought a $50 30 amp cord from Harbor Freight.

Cut off the female end, and wired it into my 18 Gen port. Plugged in my 8750 inverter generator.

Had a power outage and ran the Genny.

Fluctuating loads and it would bog Genny.

Ok. Went the correct route and got a chargeverter.

Today, went to the Depot to buy the female end of the cord, so I could hook genny up and test. $52. Da fudge?

Ok I'll just buy the cord at Depot. $150. Whut?

So ended up going to HF and buying another $50 cord.

Hooked it up to the Genny and chargeverter and worked great. Slowly ramped up the load, never bogged, chugged along nicely at 80 amps, 25 to load, 55 to batteries.

Off to Amazon or eBay to buy the end I need to fix the other cord.

Home depot has weird pricing scheme that makes some products strangely overpriced. Our local HD has an end cap of thermometers. One day I walked by and noticed that they had all been marked up by 3x or more. The simple round one that I can get for 5.99 at Fred Meyer across the parking lot is $17.99. Very strange.

Have you tried calling an electricians supply store? Even Grainger is probably less than that, and being priced competitively is not at all part of their business model.

Not seeing either $52 or $150

Next time you cut off a cord end, leave enough length to splice it back. Could do that inside an electrical box to provide a couple outlets (cost adds up when you use waterproof box, glands, wet in-use cover.)

I've bought a bunch of cords at HD.
I have old rubber cords that lasted many years outside, but cracked and now trip GFCI. Don't leave rubber (cords, tires) in the mud, it disintegrates.

My local HD has extension cord on spools you can buy whatever length you want and add an end on it. I've bought 10/3, 12/3 cables (weather rated) and made my on cables. Actually cheaper than buying premade extension cords. Tractor Supply also sells the wire & ends in bulk, likely cheaper than HD as well.

I purchased a L14/30R (female/receptacle) and a L14/30P (Male/Plug) ends last week at Lowes to wire in my chargeverter to the battery room.
Both were under $25.00. Saw similar at HD this week for roughly the same price.

I bought it for $13 off eBay.

As far as the $52. I didn't believe it either. Until an associate came over and scanned the item and yes it was $52

Home Depot's weird online marketplace/delivery products really stink up their online search results, and make it hard to find the product they actually stock and distribute which will be a name brand or house brand, and not an gobbled gook ELGRP type brand.

This is the one actually sold in stores, for $60 in Watsonville.

Somebody in the corporate machinations apparently got sick of this specific product and jacked up the pricing. Probably fighting with Leviton.

Amazon has it for $40, and in upside down world, my local Ace Hardware has it the cheapest for $33.99.

Tractor supply is ridiculous as well. Menards is better. Amazon has some good connectors for less than half the price.

I needed some 50 foot long 50 Amp California twist lock cords to connect my DC solar trailer to my house. I priced it at several places and for the same brand and model number Walmart.com was the cheapest. About 30% less than Home Depot. Not the first time I have bought from Walmart for stuff I didn't think they would stock.
