RESOLVED: EG4 6500EX and 6000EX Lights Flickering FIRMWARE

I had that happen with my EG4 6500s - when I updated the firmware on the old inverter (May 2022) and the new inverter (November 2022 replacement) at the same time, the old inverter showed firmware 79.02 and the new inverter showed 79.03.

I repeated the update 3 times and it never got the same version on both inverters. When I updated the firmware again this weekend, it updated both inverters to 79.61 without any problems.
It's my newest inverter that wont update....it says that it worked but it doesn't match the older by a few months inverters.

There is no need to disconnect anything when doing the update

Comprehensive neutral ground bond video coming this week or by Tuesday next, making sure we get enough third party review because a lot of situations can be made with parallel stacks and we know what happens if we misplace an apostrophe lol
I have one EG4 6500EX with a sticker that says 9/22. I have it setup to always be connected to the grid. I have the output going to a sub panel. At this point I am not sure if the way I set it up is correct/safe or not. I hope you cover how to set these up depending on the manufacture date.

A bit more data for whoever is working with SS for a solution for this issue. I put a meter on an outlet for a few hours this morning. It was late morning so the sun was already high and steady. My small inside UPS system had already stopped switching on and off but I wanted to record max and min voltage readings anyway. The readings... Max=123.0V Min=114.6 The system was set to SBU and running off solar but not sure if the battery ever kicked in during a high demand period.

Once again, I'm more interested in how the sine wave looks. I'm assuming this voltage swing is not a big issue (but I don't know for sure).

PS: The circuit tested had no high demand equipment on it. Normally runs at about 80-100 watts. Of course the 6500 was running 7 other circuits in the house.
I'm noticing the same fluctuation going on too and my slave inverters fans aren't adjusting in speed when more watts come in from pv it is always at idle speed not like the master inverter the fans are always adjusting

More data.
Yesterday I had a multimeter on an outlet recording the max min voltages.
During the day: Min:115.2 and Max: 123.7
During the evening (no solar): Min: 119.6 and Max: 120.4

Yet the flickering takes place all the time. Most of my bulbs do not flicker. All the bulbs that flicker are on dimmers.

Do any of you have the web monitoring or Solar Assistant setup for your units ?
You can see loads, internal bus and battery voltage etc. Might help to pinpoint what is going on.

Just received email from SS about my EG4 6000 inverter firmware update.....I don't know if anything changed or I just missed the second part of the update. I downloaded the firmware again and now I have two updates to run, the InfiniVMaster CPU reflash which I had previously and now I have Remote Panel reflash tool. I'm waiting on my freeze drier to finish a load before I can turn off the inverters to do the update. Fingers crossed this will solve the flicker and my never getting above 54 volts on the batteries.

After seeing this morning Scott's latest post of last night, I went back to the EG4 Software website, and sure enough, the FW download for the EG4 6000 does now contain TWO exe files, and a revised "readme" file, which is different from what was posted on 2/10 and 2/14. I have downloaded the new "package", but am awaiting a report from Scott before I bother trying to install. Tom

I have to wait for my freeze drier run to finish....it may be tomorrow before I can do the update. I had not been running my freeze drier on inverter power, but with all the solar I am wasting during the day, I switched it over one day too soon.

I have an older manufacturer date 3/2022 EG4-6500ex model and successfully upgraded yesterday with both exe files. I didn’t have it in service as I have been using a Growatt 3k during the construction of my off-grid cabin, so no idea if this older version suffered from the flickering issue. I connected a dimmable WiFi controlled LED shop light and a non dimmable LED shop light and all seems fine in my testing on the bench. Brought it down to 10% dim and seems like it’s is working, no flickering I can see. My model I had to remove the ground neutral bond screw with SS permission as mine came bonded from the manufacturer. I have my ground neutral in my main panel in my off-grid cabin setup, but for bench testing with the EG4, I jumpered the neutral ground with a plug I wired just for the bonding and connected all my loads with it in a power strip. Once I get it in full service and replace with Growatt I’ll have a better idea. Hopefully it works as has been on the test bench.

Will a surge protector 120VAC outlet "help" to protect sensitive electrical equipment from dirty power (assuming the AC from the 6500 is dirty)? Planning to use it on my fridge. Got a Bilken PureAC for my audio/TV equipment but the fridge is only one plug, one circuit.

PS: I've shared this issue with SS but haven't heard back from them.

I should start a new thread but just wanted to get this out there quick for now.
I had installed Cloudy Bay dimmers from Amazon that seemed to work well with the crap builders grade flat LED's (Maxim 57613WTWT)
However, they flickered/jiggled/nervous as hell when I switched over to the Sol-Ark 12k inverter.
I tried a couple of "better" dimmers (GE and Leviton), one was a slight improvement, the other no difference at all.
Today I picked up a 6 pack of these Halo HLC 6 in. 3000K Integrated LED and they work great, absolutly no flicker at any brighness. I noticed they have 2 capacitors in them where the Maxim's have none.

I'd like to get the retro lights (that simply screw in) because I can't get up to my lights to rewire them. Couldn't find them online. I'll check in the store. Thanks for the tip.

I have a quite a lot of different brands of LED bulbs around the house. None of them flickers or otherwize on both the old Growatt or the Deye (Sol Ark) inverters of mine. Even those on dimmers in my cinema f.ex. are unaffected.

Seems this is worse on EG4 inverters?

New issue came up after updating to this new firmware (which didn't help the flickering at all).

I use Solar Assistant to integrate the solar with my smart home. It's been working fine for months and months. Now, several days after updating the firmware, the USB from the PI to USB on the EG4 stopped working. Tried different cables, still didn't work.

So, switched to USB to serial (the same one I used to flash the firmware) to console port on EG4, and that worked... for two days. It stopped yesterday.

I just brought the entire system down completely then brought it back up (thinking it could be a memory leak in the new firmware), but I still can't connect to the USB or console port on the EG4 any more.

Anyone else seeing this?
