    Who makes a 12v to 48v (56v) converter?

Nice, do you do this from your 12v car system?

    Who makes a 12v to 48v (56v) converter?

Hmm... 20A max input, so 12v x 20A, 240W. Could parallel 3, set them for 140W, 11A or so. Problem with this kind of thing is trusting to hook it to your expensive and delicate car electrical system. Do I trust it not to spike my system and burn out my ECU etc somehow?? Not really... When...

    Who makes a 12v to 48v (56v) converter?

Only 48v converter I see victron making is their 24 48 120W thing. Just looked at this solution: Victron say their Orion TR 12 24, and 24 48 ones, can be paralleled unlimited. So the 120W ones are $64... 120w: 12v >> 24 v, 24v >> 48v for $128 Parallel 3 for $384, 360W delivered up to 60v as they...

    Who makes a 12v to 48v (56v) converter?

Victron only has 12v to 24v. For running a powerstation in a truck bed, there is no need for a full dcdc smart charger, as the powerstation already has its own "smart input" in all cases. Rather, all that is needed is a 12v to ??? Converter, where the ??? Matches the powerstation dc input...

RV Question about solar panels, controllers, and batteries

The panel isn't creating power. Photons in the sunlight carry energy. If panel is connected to a load, the photons get converted to a current that carries that energy away to a load, where work is done and heat produced. With no load connected, the absorbed photons just convert to heat the...

RV Question about solar panels, controllers, and batteries

Your understanding of electricity is wrong. Your use of terminology is wrong, and show you don't understand the basic physics. You keep using the word power as a synonym for electricity or voltage, it is not. Power is a defined term. If you don't have an electrical current to a load, then...

    Multiple chargers?

You are jumping way ahead of yourself, picking the exact equipment you want to install, before you even have a design or plan at all! The LAST thing you do is pick the parts! None of your pictures posted, so I have no idea what info they contain... The FIRST thing you do is figure out the...

    Inverter / charger 120/240v?

I would walk out there with a multimeter and test this thing, to be sure it is 240v, and be sure exactly what your system is, before you waste another brain cell on this 120/240 v issue... it sounds to me like this maybe 240v generator is the only thing driving you. Additionally, you said you...

Ecoflow Delta2 max DC output question

@galadhlynn Here. Video on running all dc power, lights etc, from one plug on a power station. Also some notes on what makes a good power station for truck or small mobile setups, 30A 12v ports etc. Here is my thread at ExpeditionPortal on best power stations for truck camping where 12v...

    Orion 24/12 70A parallel install

Make sure the input pos cable on left one is BELOW the cable between them, so you don't needlessly flow the whole current through both lugs. Same thing for right output, put the cable between units on top of the main output cable. No washers between anything except on the very top of stack.

    No amps

From the mppt overview booklet for that unit on victron site: Remotely enabling and disabling the charger: • All larger units feature the Victron standard remote on/off terminals. All models that don’t feature an onboard Remote on/off terminal can be remotely controlled by using the VE.Direct...

    No amps

Can do. All videos from Will Prowse, owner of this forum, emphasize connecting battery to scc first. Victron are usually well protected from mistakes, not sure of this one though.

    No amps

That victron has bluetooth, just connect to your phone and it will tell you what is happening, and what is toggled off. Ot has reverse polarity protection, your wires might be jacked. It has battery temp protection, you might have that toggled on with no feed, may stop charge. Maybe you...

    12v or 24v

Yep, the "700 watts" microwaves claim is the magnetron output power, the cooking power if you will, not the actual device power use. Ac to microwave energy is only 65% efficient or so, so 700W of microwaves takes 1100W input or so. Works for me, as I've never been a skilled enough microwave...

    12V-Only System, No Inverter

I hate to say it, but I wouldn't wish a 12v kettle or coffee maker on my worst enemy! I did all the research, and the heat times and wattages for those devices are so slow and low. From 120v ac, an electric kettle or coffee maker are virtually 100% efficient, every watt consumed goes to heat...

Renogy 50A Dual Input MPPT ongoing charging problem

Whats a 15s battery? I've read 15000 posts here and watched all Wills videos, you're the only person I've ever seen mention it, and you're talking like it's the most important number there is, no one else even says it and its ont on the spec sheets on any battery I have looked at. Why do you...

    Battery Disconnect Switch OR Resistor?

I don't understand this precharge. Can you explain why, and what is going on? Is this needed for all inverters, or just a certain size? Thanks.

I'm tired of unreliable 'all in one' systems to power my fridge!

    1. Too late now, but it sounds like you wasted a lot of $$ buying cr8ppy power stations. In future, watch Hobotech and ReeWrayOutdoors on youtube for power station reviews. They specifically test "Does the station auto wakeup in morning and take solar input?", and also "Does the unit turn off...

What gauge wire to connect 100w Bouge RV CIGS panel to Ecoflow Delta XT60

Specs are 4.4A max power, 4.7A Isc. So 5A minimum. Distance is circuit length, so distance x2, plan 30ft. 12awg. 10awg gets you 40ft total circuit. It would be a waste, because no one stops at 100w. 200W you need 10awg, and lets you have some expansion ability.

Possible Voltage Spikes from Victron Orion DC-DC Frying My Truck Electronics?

Why would you connect the orion negative to the TRUCK frame? If you have an isolated, it is intended for a trailer chassis that is ISOLATED FROM THE STARTER BATTERY NEGATIVE. You specifically use an isolated one for things like a trailer, where the ground chassis is isolated, and you keep it...

Hgher amp solar charging at the same time as lower amp AC charging

Your math is wrong. You don't use the 120v output voltage, you use the 12v input. That 400W is as much or more than most of the dc to dc alternator charge setups on market! It is fed from the battery at 12v, thats 33A draw on the alternator/starter battery! That's probably as much as your...

Small AGM backup for diesel heater start, vs heated Lifepo4.

@Vigo @HarryN Good points on voltage drop, always good to mention in a heater thread, 90% of errors I see posted are due to this! It takes 110-144 W, 10 to 12A, to heat up the glowplug at start. I have never seen it take more than 4 minutes, so I use 15 Watt-hrs as a conservative start...

Small AGM backup for diesel heater start, vs heated Lifepo4.

Hmm... well, you might be onto something. I do plan on running some 4AWG back there from starter battery, to allow either a 1. dc to dc charger for LFPs, probably Victron 12 12 30. 2. Or if I keep using my power station, a 12 48 converter to feed its PV input, need 32v min. Still haven't found...

Small AGM backup for diesel heater start, vs heated Lifepo4.

Yes, pickup truck camper. The start battery could provide a backup 8Ah to start and run diesel heater. But, imagine the scenario: You're sleeping in your pickup bed. Wake up in morning, temps have dropped to -10f. Or maybe you drove there after work, and now it's dark and you're setting...

    New electric system on sailboat

I would return that monstrosity inverter, and get a 2000W one, absolutely. Air conditioner is a complete non starter, it is an order of magnitude different from all else. There are 100 threads here on powering an airco, you will need a huge battery and panels. You need numbers on that model...

Small AGM backup for diesel heater start, vs heated Lifepo4.

Nice then. I see they have small $35 AGMs that are 12 to 15Ah, perfect as a cold weather piwer source to bootstrap up my diesel and then warm the main players up to functionality. Little AB switch would give options, and I could just let it charge from system once in a while. Thx!

Small AGM backup for diesel heater start, vs heated Lifepo4.

A recent thread got close to this, but I didn't want to derail it. Folks with interesting comments on this were @RV8R @HarryN @Tomthumb62 I have a small truck topper "popup canopy camper" made by Tune, similar to an Alu-Cab or GoFast Camper but whole top pops up, so not much insulation...

    Victron Phoenix 12V/1200VA wattage

Yep, remember most inverters lose 15% or so efficiency. Almost all the tested power stations I see also, the AC inverter is 85 to 87% efficient only.

    12v or 24v

Uhhhh... no it doesn't? I already mentioned that a 700W microwave pulls 1100 to 1150W, you used a 1500W inverter soooooo... when you used 50% power, it STILL used 1100W or so, jist turned it on and off more, and took way longer to cook your food, for no reason. LOL. Bummer for you, but it's...

    12v or 24v

Bad microwave advise, sorry. Unless you purchase an "inverter microwave", which are vastly better for mobile, then almost all microwaves achieve "half power" by cycling magnetron on full power, at a 50% time cycle. Only inverter microwaves actually change the amount of power the magnetron uses...

Using boost converter for charging LiFePO4 from starter battery/alternator

This. Non stop reports and reasons to spend $30 more and always run a negative cable and avoid chassis negative runs. But everyday, folks post up chassis negatives on small truck size setups that shouldn't use it... Thx, good info.

Truck Camper solar and DC to DC 12v mod

You've been pushing Kisae as a good product a bit, so I've looked at them recently. I'm impressed with their specs, many are better ranges than comparable Victron. They also have a "UC 1240", an all in one universal charger. It does 40A 12v charging from 120v shore power, 40A solar to 50Voc...
