LFP for EV's projected to be less than $56 per kWh within 6 months

When were these price changes supposed to occur? Will we get to see the benefits of this price reduction

    Hybrid output function?

I can continue playing with settings to see if I can make that hybrid mode occur. I will be careful about back feeding. I may have to use a different AC source to truly prevent that. my system is not plugged into the standard meter full time though.

    Hybrid output function?

@Mattb4 I have not been able to create that function yet. I can ask PowMR staff how to though. I am in a whatsapp chat with one. they have been responsive and helpful - far more than i expected.

    Hybrid output function?

yep. Everything is working. I can test the setting for you this upcoming saturday and will send a pic then. It won't take me long to do that.

    Hybrid output function?

I didn't have any AC input at the time of this photo. I can get some later this week in other modes. you can see in this mode that the solar PV is charging the battery and also supplying the loads. Basically running in off grid mode.

    Hybrid output function?

    Yep it works. lol

Test run with a small system first?

lol. thats funny. everything is working fine. At least for now. I have a quarter of my home's wall circuits and ceiling lights running off the system now. watching it generate right now

Test run with a small system first?

It isn't. I did a bunch of tests and realized that I hand the incorrect charge settings activated on the AIO. I was able to get it to charge the battery and will see if the panels charge the batteries properly tomorrow. :fp2 Was a silly error, but all is well. I am still learning what each...

Test run with a small system first?

I think my battery just died somehow
  10. S

    Hybrid output function?

I have enabled that mode in option 34 and have not seen this icon show up like that. I haven't tried turning it off and on to see if it would change yet either.

    Interesting powmr facts

what software are you using to connect to the PowMr AIO? Also, how do you 'turn on' the setting that uses PV to charge the battery and powers things in the house at the same time?

Test run with a small system first?

@Mattb4 update. at home its not showing as generating in AIO. Open circuit voltage at 156 edit: I am dumb. i took away ac input and it works now. new thread on AIO settings probably good idea

Test run with a small system first?

yeah. I will have to figure it out. I get friday afternoons off so I can actually see the panels during the day and see if its doing anything. I was thinking the battery was charging while i was at work and I would come back when no loads were currently being drawn. I will be adding another load...

Test run with a small system first?

My battery died last night and its not clear if my solar array is even generating anything. 😓 Well. I know what I will be doing in a few hours when i get home from work. I remember checking the panels before and finding voltage from each of them. I am not sure is going on. there is no way the...

    How to prevent backfeed?

well, true. unless you step up voltage for the really big loads. I have no idea how efficient a dc to dc converter is. Wait. Maybe that is the case. Just depends on distance away from batteries. If you can cite the batteries right by the heat pump power connection and same with water heater, it...

    How to prevent backfeed?

yeah. that's a good point. maybe an EG4 person could shed light on that at some point. I think the next stage of development would be to have more DC appliances available. As more DC appliances become available, the need for a large inverter decreases. Honestly would be worth our while to start...

    How to prevent backfeed?

    Like this? @hwy17

    How to prevent backfeed?

Ok. interesting. I will look into chargeverters
  19. S

    How to prevent backfeed?

oh ok. So you could have an AIO and only connect the AC to DC charger to the battery? That kind of makes it simpler
  20. S

    How to prevent backfeed?

It seems to me the only way that you can have a hybrid system without back feeding to the grid would be to have the grid connected to the battery with a separate mppt charge controller that can accept charging from two different sources and then connect the solar to one connection and then run...

Interesting Email from my electrical Co-op

Yes, but the risk goes from minimal to certainly not minimal if half the customers on the distribution circuit put solar on their roofs, so I don't consider it a nothing burger. Again, its one of those things where it becomes a problem if it goes too far, so why put a policy in place that will...

Interesting Email from my electrical Co-op

In some ways yes. The first issue comes when it gets allowed to begin with. The last thing you want is for people to start rapidly installing pure grid-tied systems to get access to full net metering. This could create a near unmanageable problem for the utility. Secondly, as more people...
  23. S

Interesting Email from my electrical Co-op

I agree with this. Doesn't look entirely unfair to me, but then again, I don't believe in full net metering. I live in the service area of the utility that is arguably the most hostile towards rooftop solar and I can understand why they are like that. Too much rooftop solar does cause problems...

Test run with a small system first?

I have something that looks like that. an efi tester thing. I also just connected the ground wire from the subpanel to the grounding bar on my main panel

Test run with a small system first?

@timselectric Aren't you the resident forum electrician? How bad is this wiring? I don't intend it to stay in this position for super long period of time, but want to keep any fire risks to an absolute minimum. it is clearly not to code. but I still think I should get near it, if that makes sense.

Test run with a small system first?

    ok ground connected
  28. S

Test run with a small system first?

i'm not touching anything else in the main panel aside from putting that ground rod in the lower bar. I almost have it there.
  29. S

Test run with a small system first?

I only wanted to connect the ground to the ground rod. apparently you aren't supposed to have more than one or something and its ok to do this. at least i was told in another thread.

Test run with a small system first?

even if I am technically running the sub panel as off grid? Well, as technically off grid that is.
  31. S

Test run with a small system first?

ok so second bar for ground and top bar for neutral to complete circuit?
  32. S

Test run with a small system first?

Wait. so I do need to put the little bar on the bottom like that? I thought the neutral and ground all went into the same thing. So this is wrong?
  33. S

Test run with a small system first?

There are two separate bars in the main panel. Here is the one in the sub panel. it looks insulated to me.
  34. S

Test run with a small system first?

would that cause any conflict with with those wires at the bottom if they touched or am i just being paranoid?
  35. S

Test run with a small system first?

It looks insulated from the box to me.
