Let me rephrase this. They told me I can't run loads while charging the battery. Sounds like they're wrong.

I just got off the phone with Signature Solar and they're telling me that I can't discharge and charge the EG4 Lifepower battery simultaneously. Please tell me this is a mistake. Now I'm trying to understand what I'm supposed to do for power while the battery is charging? I'm really confused...

I placed an order for solar panels, battery and charger (chargeverter) on Jan. 7. I was told the chargeverter would be in stock middle of the month. Got the solar panels in a week. I was also told they were moving warehouses so it would be about a week before the battery would ship. Here it is...

Found it. Renogy has a 20a 72v ANL fuse.

The only one I can find (on amazon) won't get here for a month or more. I've found a few other 20a but they are 32v max. Any other sources? Thanks.

I'm using the design in this pic as a model. But I don't really see the value in having a circuit breaker between the CC and the fuse. Seems redundant to me. Am I right? Thanks!

I assume that if my entire 48V system is wired with 12 ga wire and my largest component is a 20A CC, the main fuse (see pic) should be 20A. Is that correct? Thx!

So if your wire supports 20A (12ga) but you have a 10A inverter, the fuse should be 25-30A correct?

Isn't #8 for 40A? My inverter is 10A and the CC is 20A. That seems like a huge waste. Why would you use #8?

So just a 3 way mc4 combiner and 3 fuses. $50. That's a lot better than the $120 I expected.

Apparently, I just need a fuse on each series string @ $10 ea. No combiner box is necessary. Esp. since this is strictly an emergency backup system, I'll just go with fuses.

Thanks. I thought at minimum I would need a fuse on each panel. You just saved me quite a bit of money.

I've got 3 strings of 4-100 watt panels in series. Not sure I understand when fuses are ok and when a combiner box is needed instead. Any insight is appreciated.
