Has anyone mounted panels at 90deg inclination (vertical)?

Interesting... i have a block wall about 4ft in height about 10 ft inside of my property line. I have been toying with adding laser cut corten steel cap to improve a privacy divider... but landscape 90 degree mount panels .. especially local Santan Solar used ones may be the solution.

LV6048 automated recover from standby mode

I have a pair of LV6048. Seems like every few months i don't manage Tesla charging when cloudy/rain (non grid tie) so the settings i have send it into standby mode with 10% battery remaining. Is there an automated return to service or what is the proper switch actions to return to service. I...

I added two more EG4 batteries to a LV6048 pair running Solar Assistant - not seen by Solar Assistant

Yes! after updating all packs Solar Assistant sees them all!. What was odd when checking battery hardware version and finding 207 (A), and loading the 207 update (C), the 207 software read as hardware version 702 on screen (B) but in all cases on all 6 batteries the config read in "Boot...

I added two more EG4 batteries to a LV6048 pair running Solar Assistant - not seen by Solar Assistant

I added two more batteries to my rack for a total of six. But Solar Assist doesn't see my two new batteries. I rebooted the PI and no change. My first battery is ID 2. so i now have #2,3,4,5,6,7 configured in the dip switches. My RS-485 wiring starts with plugging into pack 7,6,5,4,3,2...

MPP LV6048 Settings ->max charging current & battery equalization (eg4)

When inadvertently charging my Tesla in the evening, i can exceed the storage of my batteries and per settings made in solarasstant i believe, the inverters go into "standby" mode. At sunrise the batteries do charge, but the invers do not seem to auto come out of standby mode. Is taht a...

Solar panel mounting on Guy Wires

Not ground mount - because trying to create shade over the court. Standard purlins in steel building can be had at 30' A steel building "shell" is probably a starting point.. but i know the rigidity and wind loads expects the steel panels to be part of the equations. I am not in an HOA...

Solar panel mounting on Guy Wires

Ok, so i have this hair brained idea... I have a lot size where i can put in a pickleball court, but if im pouring a slab i would add a few bays of enclosed garage (A) at one end and do a wet bar / counter facing the court. Im in AZ so its sunny and for the sides (B) i see i can get a pallet...

Battery cycles in bank of 4 accruing un evenly

Battery cycles in bank of 4 accruing un evenly

Thank you all for your valuable input. Although I don't have a deep understanding of battery management systems (BMS) technology, it appears that measuring cell performance by monitoring voltage and current levels, analyzing the data through code, and sending standardized messages via RS485 or...

Battery cycles in bank of 4 accruing un evenly

A few updates... Southwire replied and stated the butt connector is rated for 170 amps. From my field service days, swap the cable assemblies and the expectation is the problem should move (assuming connections are all sound). I ran down the power and let them come back up to charge. But...

I used these southwire splices. They are Aluminum. On the eg4 wire side two are "double landed". https://www.southwire.com/electrical-components/grounding-bonding-splicing/1-0-14-alum-splicer-2pk/p/65179540

Battery cycles in bank of 4 accruing un evenly

Top two were put in service about 2 months after the bottom two. I used a butt connector splice with heat shrink over it and clipped the ends off the eg4 provided battery cables. Since I had this running with two.. i cut the larger wire and repeated the same method when adding and...

Battery cycles in bank of 4 accruing un evenly

Ok - i asked for advice so i need to consider the feedback on the wiring config. There was a bit of evolution that ended up with the config starting from two batteries and then adding the second pair and the bus bar. I'll check the connections and see if i have lugs/wire to re do.

    Trying to install Solar Assistant

So you can see Solar Assistant running on the Orange PI that came with it? You can connect to it in a browser, if it found your internet connection you can log into https://solar-assistant.io/ and select sites. That would be easiest. Other way is local to your site - if you know the IP address...

Adding more batteries - balancing before bus tie

I added a third parallel alligator clip jumper on each side... it was probably the BMS may need a minimum current to satisfy (?) , the packs are now charging.

Adding more batteries - balancing before bus tie

Ok, so today with the sun shining... i didn't see progress on the two packs so i removed long wire loop and doubled up with one pair of the alligator clips joining the POs and NEG sides. Is it charging at a negligible rate or does something wake up the BMS to charge? This an of grid so cross...

Adding more batteries - balancing before bus tie

I want to do bus bar connections this weekend on two more batteries I purchased. So I placed them in the rack and tied the two together. Then i have some low gauge wire connecting to the other two as a 'resistive' connenction. System connected batteries are at 53.2v and the new ones are at...

    Last panels going up today.

The s-5 were perfect for my r panel roof. I stumbled into using Heyco glands on the rising edge of the r panel rib for penetration of the wires through the roof and hiding under the low profile of the s-5/panels.

Solar Assistant - how to set a static ip on the ethernet

Thanks...other devices on the lan I can set the static IP so they don't use the DHCP. That's my wired backbone. Security cams are onone subnet hard coded , other work stuff on another range.

Solar Assistant - how to set a static ip on the ethernet

At my home i have two different subnets in operation because i source from business internet and cable modem internet, both offer dhcp and typically a device gets DHCP from one of the routers if plugged into the LAN . The Solar Assist Pi is having an ip address foreign to either subnet and i...

MPP LV6048 Settings ->max charging current & battery equalization (eg4)

Well as the sun sets, to the west, i imagine the eg4's are shutting down from over current pretty much exactly to calculations .. 40 amps to tesla charger 9600 watts.. and 48 v with two batteries .... so 9600/48 = 200 amps.. and the two packs cant do the deed.
