Why would I disable the charge wire? Isn’t that the way the power from the vehicle alternator gets to the trailer battery? Why would I need all of the dc2dc charger/converter if I’m disabling that wire?

Yep, it's a 7-pin... I've given it some thought and am checking into separate components vs the AIO. I've decided to use a 24v-12v converter to either charge the old battery (skipping the 120v conversion through the main panel) or to power the 12v load directly, eliminating the old batteries...
