    207kWh System... In 12V??? 😬

Of course, I had talked to him about that originally, it seems to have been skipped over.

Anyone else take issue to the “400 amps” claim?

    207kWh System... In 12V??? 😬

Again I know the installer, a lack of experience tied with “likely heavily reduced pricing” for that project to be used in marketing, equals what you see. BB simply doesn’t offer anything in 48v, I’ve spoken to them many times face to face about entering that market, it doesn’t seem to be a...

    207kWh System... In 12V??? 😬

Believe it or not, I know the installer. I control the network for that home in the video. I wired his RV probably 5 years ago, he was totally green in the field. He still calls with questions. I can all but guarantee you the batteries were heavily subsidized by Battle Born. I can’t believe...

Dual battery banks and Sol-Ark communication (EG4 18kpv as well)

Often referred to as a “wire trough” at a local electrical supply company. Rather expensive for what it is.

I just looked yesterday, we're down in Puerto Vallarta on vacation and happen to be pretty close to the path of totality, something like 96% coverage just by chance. Looking forward to it!

    [SOLD] (3x) 48v EG4-LL V2 + (1x) Rack + 2/0 GA Wire - 100% SOH

I’m in Reno, make me a deal I can’t refuse and I’ll buy the batteries. I really don’t have a use for the rack or wire. Truth be told I don’t really need the batteries, but I’m a sucker for a deal ;)

Interesting Email from my electrical Co-op

Having recently spent a fair bit of time with the lineman whom pulled the new conductors for our City required 200a upgrade (we didn’t need it). I can say that wholeheartedly the “shocking a lineman” thing appears to be WILDLY overstated. Now, don’t get me wrong, I fully support keeping them...

Interesting Email from my electrical Co-op

I can imagine there being a point that two way power transmission becomes an issue, however I think in our current 'real world' practical application it seems unlikely to be causing much of an issue, right? Take my area for example, I can't imagine we're anywhere near 10% adoption, but let's...

    Net metering rejection notes: help?

So wait, you’re saying they want it to trip breakers? Are you also saying it physically does do this?

    Net metering rejection notes: help?

This combo of Sol-Ark/SOK batteries is UL9540 and all that jazz, I think it checks every box imaginable, probably very similarly to the EG4 setup. I doubt if either physically trip breakers, not only would that be a wild thing to accomplish, but you’d effectively have no way to restart the...

    Net metering rejection notes: help?

Oh I’m more than happy to do that, typically you find that they hate the process just as much but are bound by whatever rules their overlords have set in place. That said, in my original AND revised application I include notes as well as a PDF kindly explaining I wouldn’t be shocked if I got...

    Net metering rejection notes: help?

To state it bluntly, I’m not positive and won’t be home for another week to check. My understanding of what they wrote is they want an AC disconnect between the battery and transfer switch. Personally, that’s a bit confusing as nothing of the sort exists in the real world, however the inverter...

    Net metering rejection notes: help?

I would expect the same diagram that the city approved to work for the power company. Both applications included all parts used, including the RSD button and inverter spec sheet. The inverter spec sheet clearly indicates it has both AC and DC breakers. The included picture of the breaker...

Sol-Ark and SOK, it’s all code compliant and an RSD button is installed. Maybe it just wasn’t clear. I’ll take that blame.

    Net metering rejection notes: help?

I re-submitted this morning, I suppose the line diagram I submitted to the city didn’t clearly notate that the Sol-Ark has internal AC and DC breakers, I’d have expected them to not only know that, but also derive that information from the spec sheet they required for the inverter (guess they...

If we get anywhere near this I’ll be happy to be the guy who follows through with any and all possible legal action, but more importantly make them look like fools on the internet. I sincerely hope it’s nothing more than a paperwork mistake, hopefully one I’ve made and nothing more. I haven’t...

    Net metering rejection notes: help?

This gets a bit technical, I don’t mean to be petty in my answer at all. Any legally permit worthy lithium batterie is going to have a BMS as well as a breaker, or external breaker (not sure if there are any batteries that are legal without an internal breaker but there probably are)...

    Net metering rejection notes: help?

Correct, but the “breaker between the battery and grid” is not only a super inaccurate term, but exists in both forms. The battery has zero direct connection to the grid, it has a breaker on the DC side of the inverter, as well as a breaker on the outgoing AC side. Either of which would...

    Net metering rejection notes: help?

So I recently applied for an interconnection agreement with our local power company. Anyone else's Sol-Ark 15K miss the DST change this morning?

I have time sync turned off due to not wanting to use the PV Pro app and have it continually talking to China. As soon as I did that the Sol-Ark would sync with UTC time and thus wouldn’t be accurate to our local time zone. It appears the app has some ability to control the actual offset. So...

    How can Current Connected improve?

If you’re literally running internet and a lightbulb, or let’s say anything remotely close, I can’t think of a technical reason you’d need more than one. I run significantly more than that in our “contractor camper” with a very similar system and have no issues.
