If your tester says open ground then your ground is not hooked up to your receptacle or you don’t have a neutral ground bond. It has nothing to do with a ground rod. But you still should have a ground rod for safety.

You may be better off with one big system. It is easier to manage. I had an Ev 9 years before my solar so nothing really changed. Just have a small electric bill now.

I work on 208 often. And I see it coming from the utility around 220. I rarely see 208. It is always higher in my area. If I see 218 on a 208 service, I consider it good.

You just need a relay to turn off a breaker panel. Like you said. You can always put n a bypass switch to manually turn on the relay, if you need that panel live again in a power outage. Maybe you can use one of the contacts in the solark to control the relay?

I would leave the bond in the transfer switch and unbond the main panel. This may be more work. If you have to separate all neutrals and grounds in the main panel.

Mount unistrut from floor to ceiling. It could be inside the studs or outside the wall.

Did you set the compass app for true south or magnetic south.

I’m not familiar with a 2 meter system. I would run the shop from the main breaker pannel. Dose the power company have a drawing on how things need to be hooked up. Or from the house.

How many kw can your inverter backfeed to the grid? Your pv array dose not determine that number.
