Growatt SPF 6000 ES Plus vs Phocos PSW-H-5KW-230/48V

I am trying to decide between these two hybrid inverters. I already have the Phocos 3kW which has been working fine until now with no issues at all but I need more power. My PV installation is 3kW and I also have a DIY battery from 16 280K EVE cells with a JK BMS. Growatt...

JK BMS CAN bus comms now possible for inverters that support Goodwe and Pylontech batteries

10 years? Wow! Thank you for the suggestion, its definitely a candidate and especially because I was looking for one with little noise. I assume that this one will work with your adapter & the JK BMS.

JK BMS CAN bus comms now possible for inverters that support Goodwe and Pylontech batteries

That GoodWe inverter looks very nice at least on paper. I am not sure though how they are getting away with the fan-less design. Microinverters that use a similar design (fanless with big heatsink), do not seem to last very long. On the other hand its very efficient and this might play a role...

JK BMS CAN bus comms now possible for inverters that support Goodwe and Pylontech batteries

So your interface will not work with the JK + Phocos combination? I mean both JK and Phocos have the RS485 interface. Are you using CAN over RS485?

JK BMS CAN bus comms now possible for inverters that support Goodwe and Pylontech batteries

One of the options was the Growatt, but it has a huge 70 watt idle consumption, so for me was out of the question because I have a small 3kW panel setup and at a shallow angle. I came across the Voltronic Power AXPERT MKS III 5K-48 which looks exactly the same (!) as the Phocos, has almost the...

JK BMS CAN bus comms now possible for inverters that support Goodwe and Pylontech batteries

I haven't upgraded yet. Its difficult to find a different with same functionality and at this price range. So, what about your adapter, will it work?

JK BMS CAN bus comms now possible for inverters that support Goodwe and Pylontech batteries

Oh, and by the way Phocos support if awful! You are lucky if you get a response from them... I just found this from Pylontech and you might be right, it uses RS485. Not 100% sure though. Edit: It looks like its only RS485...

JK BMS CAN bus comms now possible for inverters that support Goodwe and Pylontech batteries

Damn! :-) I have just ordered the CAN version just in case... If you have answered just a few seconds earlier... :) Anyway, maybe I can use the heat pad connections to power your adapter. In the inverter manual it says that it only supports the Pylontech protocol and in the menu it has...

JK BMS CAN bus comms now possible for inverters that support Goodwe and Pylontech batteries

JK just sent me a PDF with their CAN Bus Protocol. It says: "This agreement adopts CAN2.0A standard, and the frame format adopts standard frame. Communication baud rate is 250kbps." Is this a totally custom version? The inverter I will be using is compatible only with the Pylontech protocol.

JK BMS CAN bus comms now possible for inverters that support Goodwe and Pylontech batteries

Thank you for the link. Yes, I've seen the video from Andy about the new JK BMS and I agree that they should not have released it yet with such a firmware. Anyway, the price is too high for me, that is why I am considering the B2A20S20P. But this adapter is not cheap as well. What is the...

JK BMS CAN bus comms now possible for inverters that support Goodwe and Pylontech batteries

Hello uksa007 , I am planning of replacing my Phocos B 3kW inverter with the Phocos H 5kW. I will be making a 16S battery bank and I will buy the JK BMS B2A20S20P. It looks like that the Phocos inverter can communicate using the Pylontech protocol over CAN bus, but I am not sure. My...

    Solar Panel mixing Optimization

Nobody wants to destroy its equipment but I want to squeeze out of the system as much power as possible because I do not have more space for solar panels. I found this online calculator: Max Voltage Calculator In my area we don't get temperatures lower than -5C and according to the above...

    Solar Panel mixing Optimization

Because it will produce even lower power at 2743 W. I also want to minimize the cable loses and voltage drop. It has a 7.7V margin with the Hyundai and 13V with the Sharp panels. How much lower should the array total Voc be in order to compensate for freezing temperatures?

    Solar Panel mixing Optimization

Hi, I currently have a small 2kW solar array in a series/parallel configuration as in the diagram below, together with the Phocos 3kW hybrid inverter and a custom 6.7kW LiFePo4 battery. Everything is working fine but I need just a bit more solar power for the perfect balance. The solar...

Phocos Hybrid Inverter crazy Power Factor !?

Hi, I've just bought a new Phocos B series 3kW hybrid inverter to replace my MPPSolar 2.4kW. I run a constant load of 400 watts during the day. In the house I have the Owl watt meter connected at the main entry point of the grid supply and it uses current clamps to do the measurement. When...

MPPSolar PIP2424MSE1 Unknown Fault Code 20

Hi, I have been using for 6 months now the MPPSolar PIP2424MSE1 hybrid inverter without any issues. It is connected to two 500W solar panels in series and AC power in. The maximum load is about 350Watts but it is non stop. Recently the AC power output switched off suddenly and it happened...

DC Circuit Breaker for Hybrid Inverter

"If you get a 3-position, should be good for capacitor precharge." Indeed, I was thinking of that as well. MidNite would be a good solution, but I am not sure if you can find it in Europe.

DC Circuit Breaker for Hybrid Inverter

@Vigo The switch will see from my battery bank 28V max, so the 48V rating might be adequate. It also has a rating of 300A continuous which is 3 times the 100A max of my setup. Interestingly, if you have a look at back side of the switch the two studs are marked Input / Output. (?) @Phil.g00...

DC Circuit Breaker for Hybrid Inverter

Current will be passing through both sides simultaneously. During the disconnect, arcs will be created in both chambers. The same time one side quenches the arc, the other will divert it away from the quencher. So maybe there will be a small damage to the other side which will become worse...

DC Circuit Breaker for Hybrid Inverter

One last question. This is a two pole breaker switch. I suppose it has two arc diverters, one in each pole. If I connect it like you said in order to work bi-directionally for a single line, when the left arc diverter works properly during switching under load, wouldn't the other arc...

DC Circuit Breaker for Hybrid Inverter

DC Circuit Breaker for Hybrid Inverter

Just test it with a steel flat ruler and it is indeed magnetic in both sides, upper rear side part near the pin hole. The ruler almost sticks to it. Does this mean that its actually polarized?

DC Circuit Breaker for Hybrid Inverter

Ok, now I am confused! Just found a site that was selling this DC breaker and it says: "This is a non-polarized circuit breaker, the input and output directions of the circuit breaker can be interchanged. Suitable for 12V, 24V, and 48V Battery Systems up to 600V DC Maximum."...

DC Circuit Breaker for Hybrid Inverter

I'd better connect only the positive wire to the breaker and use a fuse as well. I need the negative always connected because I will also use another switch parallel to the positive connection together with a 20 Ohm power resistor to precharge the inverter capacitors before switching on the...

DC Circuit Breaker for Hybrid Inverter

The voltage rating of this MCB is 600V and I will only use 28V max between the inverter and the battery. So its better to use it to break only the positive, correct?

DC Circuit Breaker for Hybrid Inverter

@Phil.g00 "A polarized DC MCB cannot be used to even break load current in an application where current can flow in either direction wired as shown" Is that because of arcing when trying to break the circuit under load? "However, if 1 leg, say the "+" was wired the right way and looped back...

DC Circuit Breaker for Hybrid Inverter

Hi, I just found out that DC circuit breakers not only have polarity but current flow direction as well... I recently bought the TOMZN TOB1Z-125 C100 125A circuit breaker because I wanted to connect it between the battery, 24V 100Ah and the hybrid inverter MPPSolar PIP-2424MSE1. If you have a...
