Will Sol-Ark 15K automatically stop feeding grid if grid goes down?

Thanks everybody. I monitored everything remotely from work, and dang it, they never shut off the power! I was really excited to test the solark 15k and batteries! I am glad that the solark changes behavior when the power goes down though. It helps me to think about the future. E

Will Sol-Ark 15K automatically stop feeding grid if grid goes down?

My utility company is planning an outage to do service this morning. I understand that the solark 15k will not send voltage back to utility, my question though is whether I have to change settings on my solark. Right now I limit the amount of power to 1kw to my loads from the battery, since I...

Three AC units in one house - How to stop them from turning on all at once

Wow. I am amazed by the knowledge on this forum. It is below freezing here outside Philadelphia today, but I am going to start on the MicroAir and then maybe play with the thermostat timing a little bit. In the meantime, I would love to learn how to do the relays. Maybe @JayArr can provide...

Three AC units in one house - How to stop them from turning on all at once

I contacted Honeywell, and this is what they said, "Unfortunately we dont have devices that communicate with each other, we only have zoning panels for those applications and even then they cannot be setup to limit the amount of zones asking for cooling or heating."

Three AC units in one house - How to stop them from turning on all at once

Excellent idea. I have to do this anyway, because I have to buy the MicroAir soft starts and get ready to install them. Of course, we did have some snow squalls today :)

Three AC units in one house - How to stop them from turning on all at once

Wow. This is an amazing discussion and above my head. I spent a lot of time learning solar and batteries! Not I have to do the same for hvac and raspberry pi and python and other things. I guess I was hoping there was some off the shelf Honeywell smart thermostat that could do this?

Three AC units in one house - How to stop them from turning on all at once

These are great questions. I only installed the solark 15k in December, and so I never thought to measure inrush and current during the summer. My thought is that I don't want all three air conditioners to run at the same time. I would be okay for any two of them to run at the same time...

Three AC units in one house - How to stop them from turning on all at once

I have a 4000 sq ft home, and I diy self installed 9.8kw panels on the roof (Solaredge7600) and 5.6kw panels on the ground (Solark 15k) as well as 20kwh Pytes batteries. I have three 2 ton AC units in different zones. I want to install three Microair soft starts, but I also want to know if...

New Pytes V5 48V Server Rack Battery

Dave This is not UL listed for the Pytes battery, but I found one local for good price $300 https://www.lowellmfg.com/product/ler-1827-enclosed-rack-18x27/ I did need to buy the rear server rack rails and four shelves.

    SolarEdge SE7600H-US and batteries

I have both running, but I currently have the DC side feeding one 200amp panel and I have the solaredge feeding a separate 200amp panel. I have 400 amp service at my house. Hence, the solark does not see the solaredge yet. One day I will bring the solaredge in through the Gen input but since I...

    Best Sol-Ark 15 Battery?

I wonder if the Pytes V5 uses the CATL QLIN cell which seems more energy dense than the original? Perhaps this explains the change in weight when comparing V5 to the E48100R?

    Best Sol-Ark 15 Battery?

I have four of the V5 batteries in closed loop with my Solark 15k. Victron Power In is being used as the bus bar. So far, all is good! It is indoors, and so I am not taking advantage of heater. I also felt that newer was better for long term.

Lithium iron phosphate battery safety (LFP)

I am also worried. I have 20kwh Pytes V5 in closed loop communication 15 feet from my Solark 15k (4/0 cable x 2). Three feet away from the batteries is my natural gas boiler! I do have the Pytes V5 in a metal server rack. Not sure what more to do to protect this. I lowered the charge rate...

    DIY SolarEdge Upgrade?

Agree. I have not yet ac coupled my solaredge se-7600 inverter (9.8kw roof top) system to my Solark 15k (5.6kw ground mount with Hopefully more soon). But that is my long term plan. The benefit of AC coupling is the ability to use the standard 48V batteries as mentioned above. I am using Pytes...

New Pytes V5 48V Server Rack Battery

Just curious what amperage people are charging the Pytes V5 at for safety? I have two pairs of 4/0 cables from my Solark 15k 15 feet to the Victron PowerIn BusBar, and then 2/0 cables 4 feet to the 2 pairs of parallel Pytes V5 (2 x 200Ah) for total of 400Ah of batteries. I am grid-tied and...

Ok to parallel CT sensors on dual Sol-Ark 15k install?

I have a single solark 15k going to one of my two 200amp panels. I was also hoping to measure loads for both panels for my 400amp service. Did this work for you?

Sol-Ark 15K randomly disconnecting itself from the grid

Thank you for this. I finally got through to Trevor at Solark who is alone and swamped it seems. He tried to fix it over the internet, but then he lost all power and all internet. He could not troubleshoot it completely. For example, he said he needs me there to test the frequency of the grid...

Sol-Ark 15K randomly disconnecting itself from the grid

I installed a solark 15k with 20kwh pytes batteries. I have dc PV. I do have solaredge ac coupled pv also, but this is on the grid side. Hence, it is neither load side nor generator input ac coupled. Functionally, the solark 15k does not see it. After several rainy days, today was the first...

where to place solark 15k and batteries

For followup, I ended up putting the battery bank 15 feet from inverter. Straight line is only seven feet, but by following the wire trough and the wall and making sure I had three feet in front of the electrical panel and three feet from the gas boiler, I ended up turning the server rack...

New Pytes V5 48V Server Rack Battery

Does anybody know the dip switch settings for pytes v5 to the solark 15k. I can find the dip settings for the older E48100 battery, but not the newer one. Never mind, I just found it on this youtube. It is the same as the original battery. Minute 5:03 I assume I should set the dip...

Multiple grounding rods for solar panel install and electrical devices?

Thank you @timselectric. I listened to Mike Holt and your advice. All the panels in my ground mount on tennis court are connected back to the main electrical panel array and ground from there. I did not install a separate ground rod at the array which is only 70 feet from the house. In this...

    Post your Ground Mount Setup

Yeah. I thought about doing battery diy through battery hookup, but I got nervous. I have enjoyed the solar diy and want to increase the number of panels, but I figured adding server rack batteries was safer for me and my comfort level. Going up on the roof took some time to get comfortable with!

    Post your Ground Mount Setup

Yeah. I have been able to get panels cheaply, but racking is more challenging. I had a very specific area of the roof that was flat and wanted ecofoot or something similar and had to pay full retail. I considered something like the eg4 for the tennis court, but I wanted plastic that would not...

I am thinking of getting an electric ego leaf blower for that reason! Reality is that nobody is playing tennis anymore. Teenagers have grown up. My knees are too arthritic. I have thought about just filling the entire court with panels!

Does a 5/16 ring terminal or lug fit on an m8 stud?

I have a victron lynx power in and just tested two different lugs from pv-cables. The 5/16 fits better than the 3/8. There is too much slop with the 3/8. I was surprised that the 5/16 fit, but I guess they make it with enough tolerance for the 5/16 lug to fit m8 bolt
