    My LiFePO2 battery caught fire

You can't spend time on this forum and remain unaware of the dangers. Therefore your post about complacency is misplaced, the irony is you posted it this thread.

    HVAC A/C Heat Pump Failure

Thanks I asked because I also have a gas furnace as my secondary and a combined 30k BTU's of mini split units as my primary. On 12/23 we hit -2F up here near the Poconos and both systems were blowing enough heat. I was surprised because I plan to add another 12K unit. I considered my systems...

    120v/240v Subpanel Transfer Switch

I'm doing something kind of similar but I'm a newb and not an electrician so I can't offer a solution. However your situation brings a couple questions to mind. Is it possible to run the backup power to the sub panel equipped with an interlock to lock out power coming from the main panel...

    Hi from Central BC, Canada

I'd install the inverter and batteries in the bunkie. Leave the generator hooked up to the main panel and run the AC power out from the inverter to the main panel connected to a breaker with an interlock. In the states 14/2 wire is rated for 15 amps 12/2 for 20 amps.

Making a box from cement board

Maybe a core insulated concrete block structure with some good ventilation as a cheap solution. Add a small solar powered fan to exhaust heat build up and keep the air moving.

I see we both worked in commercial construction. Retired after 35 years in a Philly trade union. I assume most people have not worked with metal studs and probably will try to source them at home depot. So the selection is as limited as there experience with metal studs. It sounds like the...

    Transfer switch

I believe it allows you to transfer/switch the output from 2 input power sources. In the picture it appears the switch is being used to select between solar power and grid power input to power a heat pump.

Making a box from cement board

I'm stacking 2 Trophy 220ah batteries vertically. 60" high x 20" length x 10" wide. So I'm fitting 440ah of 48v batteries in a 20" x 10" footprint. Taking advantage of height and the ability to use the batteries in the vertical position.

Making a box from cement board

Just an FYI: The metal studs in the pics I posted are NOT load bearing. They do make structural metal studs that are load bearing but I imagine they are a little pricey.

    Dirt cheap LiFePo4 Batteries.

I've been dealing with Chinese manufacturers for the last 16 years. In my industry manufacturers will send us "performance videos"of the products we buy. 9000 BTU Mini Split Heat Pump Hi SEER Ratings: Innovair vs LG vs Mitsu (etc) Worth it?

I would say higher BTUs based on having 2 units. One unit (Innovair 12K) is just slightly larger than needed for it's zone while the other unit (Daikin 18K) is slightly under sized for it's zone. The outdoor unit that is a little bigger than what's required for the zone, runs less than 1/2 as...

Suggestions for winter time grid outage for the >95% of people with no backup

A 3000 watt 12v inverter hooked up to my car battery always served as our first line of back up. It can power a space heater or window AC unit. Obviously it's a short term fix but affordable, quick and easy to get going in a pinch. Later I added 2 - 100 lbs propane tanks to give myself heating...
