    Zendure 4600 13 months in

Kick starter and all that entails; Many SW upgrades. Some a bit slow to apply. Customer service helpful when needed. Over time the upgrades have both slowed in number and eased as to application. This device works really well. For the money I'm not aware of a solution that inverts 3.8kw...

    New Tesla Powerwall 3

When I was looking a year ago Tesla was the: Over priced, over hyped, under/old technology, immobile, high cost installation option. Kind of like their cars. Less bang than hype. Got newer tech for about 30% the cost. Truth on any battery is unless unlimited finances they are not remotely a...

    Solar. 1 year in. Texas

Texan's buyback improvement. March 1 2024 There has been a major improvement in buybacks since last year. Last year I started with shell, they were retail pricing as to buyback, but quickly changed to wholesale. 7.7 cent buyback to wholesale, about 2. So I switched to Energy Texas, and 2 months...

Ya, this had been a good feb.

    Feb production North Texas

I just looked and I think you are closer. No way it's near 45%. Perhaps I was biased by nearly doing a header off it last summer. Seemed steeper then. Slippery when wet.

    Feb production North Texas

Roof install on a ranch. Never measured but I'd estimate 40 degrees.

    Feb production North Texas

Better than Jan and last Feb. 762 on 5.9kw system of Qcell/Enphase so far, should end up in the 850-75 range by month end. Many 0 to negative electrical cost days. Liking Feb 2024.

The Rooftop Solar Industry Could Be On the Verge of Collapse

For most of the last 20 years the cost to borrow money was at historical lows. Not the case currently. Most people finance installations. Most loans are decades long. The added finance cost means far longer, if ever, roi. The other factor is utilities have figured out it is better to pay less...

    Solar. 1 year in. Texas

Net metering in Texas? What I've seen from utility companies in Texas, packaged differently, but about a 10-13 cent gap between what utilities charge here vs what they give for over production. Over production is a waste financially and a boon for the utility. Isn't that most places? I clip...

How much to make the below DIY?

If I add batteries in future I wanted to see advantages of making vs upgrading solar generator. I was under impression cost was the big advantage for diy, perhaps not, but given the state of customer service, above a poster noted self maintenance as a key advantage for diy. Never thought of...

How much to make the below DIY?

Interesting. So cost does not seem to be an advantage. Sig Solar has great pricing on new panels, I assume batteries too?, but the Bluetti or alike are cheaper. What advantages does the diy route have then?

How much to make the below DIY?

Must be able to charge from grid or solar directly and at same time. Must be able to charge and discharge at same time. Must have wifi and blue-tooth monitoring ability. Lifo 10 year 3500 or more cycles. 3-4 kw inversion/discharge. 9-10kw storage.

December PV starting off crappy again.

Final tally 820 kw for month on 5.9kw inversion. Best month just over 1.1 mw so very good for Dec. Season of Love continues.

    Burned by AliExpress

Best practice is to avoid ali, and temu. Resolution to issues is always a crap shoot with Alibaba and Pindoudou at best. Avoid China as much as possible.

Solved: Limited IQ8+ inverter output - JA Solar panels rated for 395 Watts putting out 250 watts (63% of max rated)

Ya, what is compatible and what is matched properly is a silly wide margin.

What's the best solar-related item you bought in 2023?

Zendure super base 4600/sat. Looks good, moves good , works good. Heats and cools thru heat pump ac.

    Which Solar Panels?

Length of time in production. Record of that time. Strength of warranty. Strength of company. Ability to come out with improvements in panels. The companies I mention have all been making panels for decades. Specific advantages how well they handle heat variation, how slowly they degrade over...

    Which Solar Panels?

If track record and length of said is not a consideration then cheapest is the way to go? Maybe. Risk/reward seems no to me. When I researched 15 months ago I determined the lowest grade of panels I'd consider was Canadian solar. Cheap tier one. Rec if best panel at a decent price, Silfab...

Solar levelized cost of electricity is 29% lower than any fossil fuel alternative

If one really cares they can do a lot with a few relatively small changes. 1. Self garden organically. Plant diversely and smartly. Improves soil dramatically, increases diversity of life, especially good for pollinators. Sucks co2, delivers o2. While, shoot out Chem lawn and alike tires. 2...

    Run from Signature Solar!!!

1 Purchase. Flawlessly executed. Great price. My only experience with SS and their CS gave good updates as to delivery. Love this thread. Human nature; Far rarer do people post their good experiences than the relatively few that go side ways, and then some people just make stuff up, leave out...

    Zendure SuperBase V 4600

For any of you who may be concerned with with the ac 2.2.4 firmware upgrade I did mine easily. They recommend pv/devices unplugged, turn off the zendure fully before, and disconnected sat bat.

confused about micro vs string for ground array in empty field

The only advantage may be uptime. Lose a micro inverter you lose 8% of your production until it can be replaced. Lose a string inverter 100% until replacement. In the solar world replacement is rarely just a phone call away. Think weeks to months. I see all sorts of inverter issues on this...

$54k Sunrun OR $0.31/w New Panels Pallet + Growatt Grid-tie = Good Idea & ROI??

Why? Because the marketing of solar is a horror show of dishonesty and ignorance, and many fall for no money down deals that way over promise, under educate, and desire only a signature. Great products. Scary bad marketing and may the customer be mightily aware, and most aren't.

    Zendure SuperBase V 6.4

If you ever want to see where your firmware level is, go to settings, top right corner of superbase app, slide down and you'll see firmware levels. It will tell you, red dot, if you can do a firmware upgrade and gives instructions as to how. Disconnecting all input output helps the process.

How Can a Tier 1 System Make Financial Sense?

Simply, almost always the way to go regarding solar, figure out peak usage during daylight. This is where roi is easiest to capture. Unless you get true kw for kw credits for over production, the less over production the better as to roi. If a true kw for kw credits for over production load...

What Has Been Your Experience With These Top Vendors?

Bluetti ac 500. 1 year in. Charge and discharge daily. No problems of significance. Rate it an 8.5 of 10 in the solar generator grouping. Solid, not outstanding.

    Zendure SuperBase V 4600

Mine was in home mode. Customer service recognized based on screen shot of front panel. Told me to hit ac button twice and system was taken out of home mode and took grid input.

Minisplits have a mind of their own?

How about trying a fan near the exit to blow the hot or cool air. It seems to work with my dual hose unit. If not used the room freezes/over heats or turns off unit too quickly at less extreme settings. Air flow.

Why is solar so damn difficult?

True enough the solar sales world is bad. Really bad, but with all the information available, getting a good installation at a good price is doable. Common sense is required and enough work ethic to investigate. Panels to inverter to input. Not that much to it. I went from zero knowledge to...
