    Series-Parallel Wiring to 12V battery

Thank you for the detailed response. Much appreciated.

Why Do I Need an Inverter/Charger if I have Solar?

Thanks. I think my 800 watts going to the 200ah battery is plenty of power to recharge pretty quickly... especially when I'm using 90-100 Ah per day.

Why Do I Need an Inverter/Charger if I have Solar?

Thanks. Should have mentioned I do carry a 2000w gas portable generator as a back-up in case the sun disappears for a few days.

Why Do I Need an Inverter/Charger if I have Solar?

So I'm building an 800w solar panel system for my travel trailer. It already has an inverter (only 1000w so will probably upgrade to 2000w so the wife can run a few more things like her hair dryer, LOL". I have a 200ah LifePo4 battery. I'm reading about inverter/chargers combos. But if I am...

    Series-Parallel Wiring to 12V battery

I have 4 200w solar panels that I want to wire in series-parallel on top of my travel trailer (currently only have 1 200w panel). I plan to use a 20a fuse for each string. I have a 12v 200ah LifePo4 battery, 60a MMPT solar charge controller and 1000w inverter. Question #1: how do I calculate the...

12v 800 watt System Upgrade Check for Travel Trailer

I will be running 90 to 100 ah per 24 hr period.

12v 800 watt System Upgrade Check for Travel Trailer

Yes. I will know that next week when I set everything up at home and test.

12v 800 watt System Upgrade Check for Travel Trailer

So my 2023 travel trailer came with a pretty useless 200w panel, 20 amp solar controller, 1000w inverter and (2) 100ah lead acid batteries. We like to boondock for 4+ days. Plan to run the following on 12v system: 3.1 cubic fridge, 10 in macbook laptop, LED overhead interior lights at night, and...

New Li Time 12v 230 ah reading 3.25 volts

So was able to determine that the battery is in fact fully charged. I hooked everything back up to my RV and while the solar was charging, I connected the battery charger. It turned on, charged for about 30 seconds and then registered "full." Now the problem is, when I disconnect the solar...

New Li Time 12v 230 ah reading 3.25 volts

Understood 3.25v per cell is norm. But when I'm measuring the battery using the posts on the outside, shouldn't that give me around 12v + or -? When I measure my flooded lead acid batteries, I'm getting 12ish volts.

New Li Time 12v 230 ah reading 3.25 volts

Just curious if anyone else has encountered this issue with a new LiFePO4 battery seemingly dead and not charging. I went and got a multimeter and tested the battery and it's at 3.25V which seems crazy low. Almost wondering if that's "beyond repair damaged" low. Here's some backstory for...

    Shore power not charging battery

So just replaced 2 100ah lead acid batteries with a LiFePO4 230ah battery with low temp protection. Also replaced the 30a PWM SCC with an MPPT 60A SCC because I plan to upgrade from 200w in solar panels to 800w next year. Here's the problem: shore power has been connected for 2 days and the...

    Charger and Measuring Battery Voltage

Newbie question. Have a LiFePO4 230 ah battery for my travel trailer. I want to accurately know the life of the battery while camping and be able to charge it at home when storing in the off season. What equipment can you recommend? Do I just get a voltmeter to determine the present state of...

    Solar Charge Controller Wiring

    Solar Charge Controller Wiring

That's a great point. Right now, I'm only running 1 200w roof mounted panel and 1 200w solar suitcase (which runs on it's own SCC directly to the battery. So with 1 200w panel running through the existing wiring, there's no way I can max out the 30 amp. I guess I'll just need to worry about...

    Solar Charge Controller Wiring

Currently have a 30 amp SCC in my travel trailer. Want to pull it out and replace it with a 60 amp SCC (adding 600 more watts of solar panels eventually. Since my current wiring is only rated for 30 amp, I'm assuming I need to re-wire for 60 amp from the SCC to the battery bank? Yes?

Replace Lead Acid with LiFePO4 Li Time

Good point. As far as keeping the old SCC and looping it in for the briefcase...the briefcase has it's own SCC already. And I have a "Solar on the Side" port from GoPower wired for 30 amps that makes a direct connection to the battery (it's nice because I don't have to remove the battery cover...

Replace Lead Acid with LiFePO4 Li Time

I calculated I only use about 70 to 100 amp hours per day. So maybe not even worth adding a second 200ah battery?

Replace Lead Acid with LiFePO4 Li Time

Yes. Good info especially on the pro's/con's of parallel vs series. Shade is a constant issue because we tend to camp under heavy forest canopy in Colorado...maybe need to re-think that strategy (which was born out of lots of tent camping and looking for shade). Also why I got the 200w solar...

Replace Lead Acid with LiFePO4 Li Time

Thanks everyone. I had heard really positive things about the Victron and I'm excited to switch to an MMPT. I'm also still trying to wrap my head around wiring series vs parallel on the roof top panels when I add two more. Do I want series wiring with 36 volts at 16.67 amps or do I want...

Replace Lead Acid with LiFePO4 Li Time

Thanks. I guess I can get a couple of the heating pads for the battery box. Any suggestions on the MPPT controller? I haven't really looked around yet.

Replace Lead Acid with LiFePO4 Li Time

Currently have a 200w roof mounted panel and 200W renogy solar suitcase panel. My controller is the GoPower GP-PWM-30-UL (BLUETOOTH®-ENABLED - LITHIUM COMPATIBLE). 1000w inverter (which I plan to upgrade to 2000w at some point. Currently have 2 100ah Lead Acid severe duty batteries. Question...
