Time to add Panels to 2 X 6000XP

So I talked to my inspector and he said that I can’t mix codes. I could go all 2023 code or stick with 2017. I think part is the problem is that his training on the PV portion of 2023 is next month. I’m going to stick with the 2017 code since I passed my previous inspection based on that...

Time to add Panels to 2 X 6000XP

I almost did that with my Ruixu batteries, but went the pre-built cabinet. I’m an IT guy so I have a server rack in my basement. For good server racks search eBay for “Raising Electronics”. They’ve got some sturdy, affordable racks that I really like. For the battery rack I started with a...

Time to add Panels to 2 X 6000XP

@itech20 The wireway on the top of the battery cabinet is a 10 X 10 that is about 32”. To make that one fit I needed to cut it down from 48”. All of the others are 8 X 8’s. They are all Hoffman wireway’s, but the brand really didn’t matter to me. I got them from an All-Phase Electric in...

    Planning my first DIY build

I put 2 x Chins 12v 250ah batteries in my daughter’s RV. Been running great for a year.

The next thing? Inverter or Battery? All in 1?

@Adam De Lay totally agree - VenusOS is a great start. I put that on a Rpi for my daughter’s RV build. Works like a champ!

Time to add Panels to 2 X 6000XP

I really didn’t get a sense one way or the other from the inspector, but I had enclosed my battery cables all the way from the rack over to the inverters. I was concerned about that so I purchased 2/0 THHN for the battery cables, which I knew were approved. Just wasn’t sure about using...

Time to add Panels to 2 X 6000XP

@itech20 thanks for that. I passed an inspection on my battery backup system un February under the 2017 code. My inspector told me the code change was coming, so I pulled my permit before March12th (when the 2023 code) went into effect. So I’m tied to the 2017 code for my PV system. I’ve...

Replacing SG6548 with EG4 6000XP would you remove the exiting battery breaker

I have a T-class fuse and switch between my battery bank and the inverter. I feel having something at the battery bank improves safety.

Can my generator run my home aircon (heat pump)?

I had the same!on my Trane. It took some help from microair, but I got it to work

    Micro-air Soft Start

I just installed one on my 3 ton Trane and it worked the same way. It is a little weird.

Time to add Panels to 2 X 6000XP

Yeh - Except he said it has to be red and black. So I guess its testing for continuity. Ugh! My bigger problem is redoing my wireway and connections to the inverters. When I built the original system I thought it made sense to add the PV conduit into the wireway at the same time. Duh! Got...

Time to add Panels to 2 X 6000XP

@zanydroid I just talked to my AHJ and he's good with two reds and two blacks as long as they are zip tied whenever they are in a box or otherwise "exposed". Different interpretations in different states I guess. He also validated that solar DC circuits need to be separated from everything else.

Time to add Panels to 2 X 6000XP

That's what I read in the code which drove me to ask the question. To achieve this will take some rework of my existing install. The inspector for my battery backup verified that I could run DC and AC in the same wireway, but solar DC seemed different. Passed inspection on my inverters and...

    RuiXU battery experiences

Maybe reach out to Current Connected @HighTechLab they are able to create different types of cables. They may be able to help. Not sure they are selling the Lithi2-16's, but I bought my 48volt Ruixu Server Rack batteries from them. Very happy

Time to add Panels to 2 X 6000XP

I ended up ordering Qty 16 of the BlueSun panels earlier in this thread. I am purchasing a Ready Rack System from APA Solar. Pretty excited to get this going. The diagram below provides a picture of my current working design. I have a couple of questions on the PV circuit. Do I need...

    EG4 6000 XP - Clarification on "RECOMMENDED MAXIMUM SOLAR INPUT - 10,000W"

I ordered Qty 16 of these blue sun panels for my two 6000xp’s. With an 8s configuration I should get around 330volts at 11.5 amps. I’ll report back here on what I’m getting here in Michigan.

    Victron Lynx ...

I used these on a build I did for my daughter’s RV. Works great. And yes that blue stuff is addicting, but lack of UL listing made me go another direction!

Get it. For me getting voltage where i wanted it was what was driving my decision. I was looking at Vmp specs to figure out which panels to get.

Time to add Panels to 2 X 6000XP

@AZ Solar Junkie Actually that is what I’m going to do. Battery backup was Phase 1, adding solar to reduce reliance on grid is Phase 2. Thanx for this. @wdwtx2.0 That’s kind of what I’m looking at, specifically size = voltage.

Time to add Panels to 2 X 6000XP

Thanx @wdwtx2.0 and @AZ Solar Junkie, appreciate the input. Let me rephrase my question a bit. Does anyone experience with either panel and does the panel brand really make a difference? Is it worth an $684 to get panels that have the potential to produce more? Thanx

Time to add Panels to 2 X 6000XP

Trying to decide between these two panels. They end up close with the BlueSun’s able to produce more wattage, but for a higher cost. Does anyone have experience with either of these panels? Is it worth the extra $684 to get nominally 1kW extra? bluesun bsm460m-72hbd Boviet...

Time to add Panels to 2 X 6000XP

I’ve currently implemented a battery backup system using 2 X 6000XP’s and 4 X Ruixu Batteries. See this thread if you’re interested in what I did. Now it’s time to add my panels. The 6000XP’s have the following specs/limits that I am using in my planning: Max temperature adjusted VoC of...

    New EG4 Chargeverter V2

Finally got my Chargeverter V1 setup and tested. I’ve got an old Briggs and Stratton 5550 running watt generator. I was able get the Chargeverter to 50 amps at 54.5 volts. Anything over that and the generator bogged down. That gets me about 2750 watts being dumped into my batteries. I’m...

what's your PV array string voltage ? seeing some up to 400V +

My inverter’s (EG4 6000XP) optimal voltage is 320volts. I’m spec’ing my 16 panels to hit near that voltage, which will be 2 strings of 8s. I also need to keep my VoC below 480volts according to the inverter spec. I will also keep the amperage down to around 12 amps which allow me to use #10...

    RuiXU battery experiences

I think that is exactly what happened. Phase 1 (complete) of my project was putting in a battery backup system. Phase 2 (next 60 days) is adding the Solar. In wanting to keep my batteries fully charged in case of a power outage, I put the inverters in bypass mode, so I was drawing nothing from...

    RuiXU battery experiences

My batteries are performing quite well with 2 X 6000XP’s. Communication works and seems to measure voltage well. The Ruixu rack is really nice. My one issue is that I’ve seen my SOC% deviate from my voltage somewhat, but haven’t drilled into it to figure it out completely. Also, they are...

EG4 6000xp CANBUS Comms with Victron Smart Shunt w/DIY Battery

There is one CAN bus connection from the battery to the primary inverter and a cable that connects the primary and secondary inverters. Thinking out loud - each inverter is connected to the same battery bank. The battery bank is made up of Riuxu server rack batteries connected via bus bars...

EG4 6000xp CANBUS Comms with Victron Smart Shunt w/DIY Battery

This looks like a really cool project that i could really get into. One question before I take the plunge. Will this work the same with 2 x 6000xp’s in parallel? In other words could i just hang the victron shunt off of one inverter?
