Pylontech 5000 batteries GOOD or BAD??

The amount of energy stored is not a consideration. The only point of interest there is the cost per storable kWh. It sounds like the primary negative point (assuming the price per kWh is the same - which is isn't) is that the charge/discharge power is less due to the voltage being lower. So...

Why is solar so damn difficult?

Doesn't really apply to me.. I am an electronic engineer. I don't need to learn about electrical systems. All I need is documentation that is clear and concise, not a bunch of sprawling brain dumps that the Victron stuff appears to be. There's certainly tonnes of Victron documentation, but...

Pylontech 5000 batteries GOOD or BAD??

So to conclude: - inverters expect 16 cell LiFePO4 batteries (i.e. nominal 51.2V, not nominal 48V), and 15 cell ones do not really interface correctly with them; - the Pylontech ones are priced as if they are 16 cell, so they are more expensive (as per figures in my previous post - Fogstar...

Pylontech 5000 batteries GOOD or BAD??

Why is this considered bad? The Pylontech batteries have a nominal voltage of 48v, which is 3.2v x 15. The Fogstar batteries have a nominal voltage of 51.2v, which is 3.2v x 16. The only technical difference I see between the batteries is that the Pylontech batteries will discharge at 6.6%...

Why is solar so damn difficult?

I have also been researching solar for our property for some months. I still haven't concluded a suitable design. As I see it, the problems are: - the inexplicable lack of technical documentation from manufacturers, making it impossible to know what the capabilities of the components are and...

    UK Off-grid DNO advice

I recently joined this forum for pretty much exactly this requirement, and have been dismayed at the misinformation (here and on the wider internet) about installing an off grid system in the UK. It's incomprehensible why people are saying things like this. Are they deliberately trying to...
