Hello All,

Im investigating using a split phase version of Will’s

Mobile 48V Solar Power System!

setup for a skoolie conversion. Questions…

1) 50 amp shore power would be treated same as grid power as an AC input?

2) Would a dedicated 48V alternator connect to the all-in-one or the 48V battery directly and is there an additional component needed between them?

Thanks, Gary

1. Yes
2. 48v alternators are very expensive. Best one I've seen is a balmar 48v 100a which is like $3000. Some jeep hybrids and others have 48v alternators you can get used but Idk how well they'd work.
Regardless to connect you'd need either a wakewpeed ws500 or a zeus regulator to give the alternator lfp profile and protect both. Or DC to DC converters so limit.

I have a 24v chassis system in my Prevost bus with a 270a alt. Use DC to DC converters to switch it from 24 to 48 and 24 to 12 to power both my 12v and 48v house lfp systems. 1500w to each. I like this way better as it has 2 protections, the default regulator protects the alternator to give a constant voltage, also the DC converters protect it to give a constant voltage. If I get an alt spike worst case it'll blow my converters.
