I have a friend with an interesting problem. They have a barrel type of roof with a bitumen covering. The arc of the roof is about 38 feet and the depth of the arc is about 5 feet, it is about 100 feet long. There is a parapet on the sides that is about 3 feet high. What solar mounting systems are available to use that don't require roof penetration, or that minimize them? I can either conform the racking to the roof, or try to make the racking flatter. I looked at solarpod crown as a possible solution. Does anyone have any other possible solutions?
My guess is to build a frame the conforms to the shape of the roof by bending either galvanized steel or aluminum strut and connecting it to strut that goes around the entire perimeter. That should allow for 0 movement I believe.
