i came across a short article/ video that briefly talks about shadow effect energy generators. It’s a very new thing is my understanding. Just curious about some of y’all’s opinion on this new technology. I wasn’t sure where to post this but thought it might be a nice topic to discuss. Here is an article.

 
Using eight of these generators, the team actually powered an 1.2-Volt electronic watch in ambient light.
So 8 of them produced 0.00005 watts (a scientific LCD calculator uses about 0.0007 watts). I could rub my hands together and use the heat from that to drive a thermocouple and do that ;) but being sensible look at the wee panel on a standard solar powered calculator then reduce that to a 10th of the size and you are still producing more power. Some problems don't actually need to be solved.
