    Small test fixture

But conceptually we have an inverter that has been sitting disconnected with voltage charged capacitors. Shorting out the capacitors releases a "pulse" creating a spark as the capacitors are discharged. So why isn't it called "DISCHARGING" the capacitors ???? It doesn't make sense ...

Looking for a 12V 1500W~2000W Pure Sine Wave inverter under $300

That's kinda' interesting... I have a 600w and 1500w Samlex inverters hooked up to 24v 100ah batteries in preparation for any potential major hurricanes. Thinking about it, the ability to run a microwave oven would be requirement, but in the situation where I need "cranking power" I wonder if...

You are right. I happen to have a single burner propane camping stove that would work in stealth...

I am building a solar battery charger for my wheelchair that I can hang in my patio. I am probably the first to try that!!

    Small test fixture

Thanks Harry. From reading this I realize that I should charge the inverter before attaching to my DYI, BMI protected, wheelchair power supply. I just ordered a 25w 30ohm cement resistor to have on hand for it. I am still confused why it is called "Charging", as it seems like exactly the...

    Hurricane Season Preparation

Just an update: I went with the Victron MPPT 100/20 "little beast" and a set of flex panel: "520w Kit" from Eco-Worthy. I took advantage of their 20% HOTDEALS promotion on ebay. A good deal I think. This should work...

    Renogy DC-DC charger with MPPT

Update: I got with Eco-Worthy and was able to upgrade to a "520 Watt kit", eg 4 panels with the extra cables, and their dicey looking charger that I would never want to use on my first experience. Here's their 390 w kit. I added a 4th panel to make a 520w kit: -> 4 x 130W Flexible Solar...

Building a Small System for camping off grid.

WOW !!! HEY GUYS, CAN WE GET SERIOUS? I am just wrapping up a long thread I started, asking exactly the same thing, but strickly on a recharge cycle build. But Bongerscc, I have been through this journey - and if; if you just need the cpap to work, you can buy the approved 12v DC adapter...

    Hurricane Season Preparation

Yep. That is what I am thinking. I can do a lot with idea, using flex panels. I think this disaster preparation scenario is probably the one situation that justifies for using flexible panels...

    Renogy DC-DC charger with MPPT

So after looking around at extention cables I came up with an interesting compromise. Alibaba: a short mc4 to common SAE automotive connector, and then a couple of 15' 14awg cables with those connectors. So, for the $35+ I would have spent on a 25' solar extention, I have an adapter and a twoof...

    Renogy DC-DC charger with MPPT

I was thinking that too, but I can also park a wheelchair out there to charge, as well as the portable spare pack, so that doesn't have to be an issue. A pitbull attached to the chair might be a good idea though. That way, they'd just steal the dog.

    Renogy DC-DC charger with MPPT

I wonder if I need to anticipate not having enough length of mc4 pigtail from the panel to the charger... I should probably anticipate that. I am speculating getting a set of 10awg extention cables with mc4 connectors on one end, tinned bare end on the other. Eco-Worthy sells 20' made up...
