When using a EG4 6000XP with grid assist, would that be considered grid tied and i have to deal with all the utility provider interconnect nonsense?

Yes, this is the difference e.g. compared to the "old" EG4-6500EX which is able to drive the load in parallel from grid, PV and battery - it's documented as "...Utility energy will supply power to the loads at the same time" for all three working modes SBU,SUB and USB. Despite it I was able to...

18 month DIY project finally done: 39kW inverter power off grid system

I don't have issues with this magnets and I'm pretty sure that there is no magnetic sensitive electronics behind this location.

18 month DIY project finally done: 39kW inverter power off grid system

It's nice to see that the forecast calculations I made about 2.5 weeks ago are almost exactly the same as today's result. Yesterday was the first cloudy day since the system went into operation and because of this the batteries could only be re-charged to around 79% SOC by end of the day. During...

    SunGoldPower 10kw with EG4 LifePower4 batteries - Closed Loop

Very interesting reading and deep dive information (I'm really interested in these protocol things)! After long time thinking about closed loop communication and the pros and cons, I came (just for myself) to the conclusion that's not worth the effort and because of the possible problems. Here...

That's a great idea to ease maintenance! Yes, the small screws are a pain. The EG4-6500EX only have one screw per filter grille, but it's still a pain. So I followed the advice in this video and replaced the screws with a small flat magnet and it works great. Now the filter...

Yes, the equipment cooling keeps the units nice cool and so it keeps them quiet, also. I'm sure the lifespan of the inverters will be better also when they usually running cool. I'm very happy with the cooling/loudness results with the small 9,000BTU ducted mini split which does not cost much...

I have good new from SolarAssistant. I've sent them the EG4-LL (V2 and S) protocol spec and they asked me to grant admin access to my SA instance for further analyzing. So it seem they are willing to find a solution and/or extending the number of available battery data requesting from the batteries.

I forgot to mention, I've bought from Windy Nation but everything via their Amazon offers.

    Windy Nation

I've bought all my solar cable and copper lugs from them (for a huge system). Everything perfect, not even a small complain.

    Solar Power

Nowadays it's possible to do this even with an off-grid system - just oversize all components, but at least the inverter power to be able to run all high loads in parallel! Is it necessary? No! Does it make sense? Maybe? It's just a convenience thing! Why should I make compromises with the...

18 month DIY project finally done: 39kW inverter power off grid system

I've send SolarAssistant a feature request to read some more data from the EG4-LL batteries. I've sent them the protocol spec from EG4. In this spec there are three temperature registers/addresses listed: "Temp of PCB", "Temp Avg", "Temp Max" (also I've asked for the cycle count which is...

Unfortunately, SolarAssistant only showing the following data for my 12 batteries (even they are individually connected all via RS485). The header shows the average of all 12 battery temperatures, but each battery only shows one temperature at all. Looks like SolarAssistant does not request all...

18 month DIY project finally done: 39kW inverter power off grid system

That's a good idea. I will think about how it may be possible from the mechanical point of view. So far, some of the cold air from the duct outlets is already falling down on the battery racks which may help a bit to keep them a bit cooler, but a direct injection of cold air into the racks would...

18 month DIY project finally done: 39kW inverter power off grid system

Yes, this is the "not so nice" truth. It looks like this is the price I have to pay by using "cheap" AIO's and wanted to be independent of the grid. It would be interesting how the overall losses would be if quality equipment had been used (e.g. Victron chargers and inverters) - maybe 80% or 85%...

18 month DIY project finally done: 39kW inverter power off grid system

Just a short update after 17 days online: never connected AC-in to the grid until now 960kWh consumed, 1356kWh PV production results in an overall efficiency of about 71% (not really good but acceptable) about 430 starts of the 5 TON central heatpump (with soft start installed) - no failed...
