Hi all, I'm in the process of setting up my house to run off batteries as much as possible and only draw on the grid when necessary. I'm in Australia with our standard 240v system so there's no split phase shenanigans or added complexities like in the US. I have a 48v 300ah battery and Growatt...
  • Post in thread: EV battery output connected to inverter solar input

Hey guys, Does anyone know how the MPPT circuitry in an inverter would handle fixed DC voltage instead of the input from solar panels? I'm wondering if I can connect a 350-400v EV battery to the solar input of an inverter. The DC voltages are in the same range so technically the 5000w inverter...
  • Post in thread: Load limit of AC IN line of Growatt 5000 ES

I'm interested to know the same thing - I'm trying to convert my house over to run as much as possible using the SPF5000 ES and only drawing from the grid as necessary. My loads would rarely exceed 5kw but it'd be nice to know if someone turned on multiple high load appliances for a brief time...

Cool, I did a search but couldn't find anything. So much discussion using the same keywords so may have been lost. If anyone who's done it can chime in on how it's going that'd be great. The inrush is a good point. 2x 240v bulbs in series would probably do the trick!

Thanks, I should have mentioned that it's not actually set to pull the full 20A - I have it programmed for 40A (battery) which is only 2400w. Plus it was running OK when testing from a standard 10A outlet so it shouldn't be that. Can any one else comment on how they neutral wiring is set up ...
