I thought I'd share my results of my quest to implement a dedicated touchscreen displays on my home assistant setup around my house.
Yes, it was DAUNTING at first. Take a quick search at AliExpress for touchscreen, and you find way too many. They are everywhere. Plus you have to figure out how...
I just finished a month long install. 2x LV6548s @240v that power my shop and 1 LV6048 @240v that powers my house. 4x LifePO4 batteries, 27 420w panels. man, this was a ton of work. I just estimated the hours spent for a buddy of mine. Not counting all the research, endless Will Prouse videos...
Some of us live in very cold climates and LifePO4 batteries don't do well below freezing. In fact, you can destroy your batteries by charging them when they're near 0 C. We have too much $ invested in our packs to not take good care of them.
I bought these heaters and they work great...
I ordered 4 of these batteries from Ian at Watts247 and a Solar Assistant Image I put on a Pi4 I had lying around.
https://watts247.com/product/powerup-lifepo4-5-1kwh/
They work great, but in the description it clearly says "NO BMS". Yet.... Ok, fine. once you get SA calibrated it generally...
One of my combiner boxes keeps throwing the breaker. It's happened multiple times now.
Brand new install - I have 3S4P config on Canadian Solar 420 watt panels. I see the current touching 80amps from time to time. The breaker says
In-80A, I'm assuming that's the trip value. Solar Assistant...
Im seeing something strange in the battery current the values reported by SA.
I have 4 batteries, and I've verified that each of the battery_x_current numbers are correct adding them together equals what my shunt measures....
What are "sensor.battery_current" and...
2 LV6548s in parallel. When the loads are less than 60% they operate normally. MPPT current on all 4 inputs is right at the max produced by my panels = approx 17-18amps. I'm nowhere near maxing out this system...
But when the load on either inverter goes above about 60% and the sun is shining...
I updated to Software version 2022-10-30 a few days ago and MQTT stopped working. I'm monitoring all messages (I see everything but SA) in home assistant, but I see nothing from SA. All states of all inverter objects say "unknown".
Home Assistant version:
Anyone else having this...
New install... I just got the equipment today.
I have 2 LV6048 inverter/charge controllers and 4x100ah LifePO4 48v batteries. And 24 420w panels with two 6x2 combiners.
https://watts247.com/manuals/mpp/LV6048%20split%20phase%20manual-20201120.pdf
I am powering them with a 100A sub panel w 40...
As I use and explore the limits of my dual phase LV6548 system, one thing strikes me as odd. Whenever the system throws a fault code (pv too high, over temp, over load, etc), there is no way to "reboot" or restart the system other than turning off both the front panel buttons, then all the...
I posted this in the tech support area but got no responses.
Any help appreciate... this is driving me nuts.

I have 1 extra perpetual license that I'm not using thatI can transfer

$40 instead of the $55 regular price.

I have a very strange thing going on w/ my 4x100ah LifePO4 battery packs. Before about 22 days ago, the highest SOC I could achieve was always 100%. Every day. Now the highest SOC I get is 85% and slowly reducing about 1% each day. this happens regardless of using PV charge or Utility. The dip...

Im turning my attention to my batteries now trying to figure out why the capacity readings are so far off when SOC is 100%. These are all 100ah "ESS PowerUp" LifePO4 batteries I got from watts247 a couple of months ago. https://watts247.com/product/powerup-lifepo4-5-1kwh/
They have always...
SA worked flawlessly with my LV6048 single inverter, however I'm having nothing but problems with my new dual LV6548s.
The invertera are working great and both are set up as dual phase (180). I'm running my entire shop and a 25,000 btu air conditioner all day on just solar. All indications on...
Anyone know of a way to get the last error code thrown by any inverter via MQTT? I have home assistant working very well, but I don't see error codes exported in any objects...

I suspect I have a low voltage condition. Does anyone know the MINIMUM PV voltages required? I'm loathe to get up on my RV roof and rewire my panels, especially since the wind is blowing at 30-40 mph right now.
The controller cycles from charging to off after about 20 seconds, resets after...
I have something strange thing happening w/ my LV6548s operating in SPLIT PHASE.
Any time the load on one of the inverters goes above about 60%( which, coincidentally exceeds the available PV power), the PV power on that inverter drops to almost nothing and the grid kicks in on that inverter. I...
One of my LV6548 inverters mc4 connectors failed and I got 0v on PV1. Voltage on the incoming wires is fine. Anyone else had this happen? This is a REALLY bad design on an otherwise great inverter.
I just ordered a couple of these to bypass the mc4 connectors and hardwire directly to the...
These seem to work really well:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08TM6SSP7?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
they almost cover the entire bottom of each rack mount battery. I got them and set up an automation in Home Assistant on 12/22 to keep them between 50-60F. This is timely bc it's...
I'm installing 2 of these in 180 degree/240v parallel configuration giving me 12kw total production, what is the maximum size of the circuit disconnect beaker I use on each output leg? 12kw= 100A at 120v and 50A at 240v. So 2 x 50A breakers, one on L1 and one on L2?
or do I put 25 A breakers...
