  • Post in thread: Ebay SolarEdge Optimizers Legit?

This is interesting....I have never thought about doing this.... Found a Solaredge document which outlines a way to do this without a solaredge inverter? https://gridalternatives.org/sites/default/files/se_power_optimizers_installation_guide.pdf
  • Post in thread: How to monitor Multiple 48v Packs individually that are in Parallel for large Pack?

EMUSBMS Centralized will do that. It's pricey, but it will handle the communication and master disconnect / charge for a large parallel pack etc. Another Boot ass way of doing it would be to place multiple BMS's that have a disconnect feature and just string them all together IE in series so...
  • Post in thread: SE XW+6848 VS SMA Sunny Island 6048 - Grid connected, battery backup and excess sell to grid

I am in a very conflicted dilemma. So I have both of these inverters and can proceed with either one? BUT I am torn as the best approach for my system, which can change like the river flows down hill. I own a Sunverge Cabinet, it has a SE XW+6848, a Sun verge control etc. and KOKAM 11.6kwh...
  • Post in thread: SE XW+6848 VS SMA Sunny Island 6048 - Grid connected, battery backup and excess sell to grid

Thanks for the input! I am a little worried about the control aspect of the SMA units. I think the battery integration will be pretty straight forward. But the Feed-in and trying to do any load shifting or power output is a little clunky with the SMA Units. We shall see! I am getting ready...

  • Post in thread: Grid Tied Inverter with Neutral Loops?

Funny - I found my answer in another manufactures documentation! What a pain! Still curious what people are doing in the on-grid vs off grid panel connections when connected at the same time? AC System Bonding Multiple AC Neutral-to-Ground Bonds: Verify that only one neutral-to-ground bond...
  • Post in thread: XW Pro 6548 Repair?

Mike - There is a guy on Ebay that does the repair of the SE inverters. He fixed the mosfets and diodes for me on my inverter. This is the service... https://www.ebay.com/itm/403449719417?hash=item5def7a2a79:g:NQIAAOSwIaJhnchN He has other items for sale and does the work. Get the...
  • Post in thread: Time to go Solar in central California.

As stated above get a hybrid water heater, I cannot speak highly enough about getting one. The unit I bought puts out cold dehumified air year round. The garage is where I specify them in the houses I design. Also consider an induction stove top, they heat very fast and the electric coils of...
  • Post in thread: Ebay SolarEdge Optimizers Legit?

Cool! I was actually thinking of buying one of those as well. I do wonder how they would handle shutdown etc without the key turning off the SafeDC function? Very interested in having you unlock some for me, but need to find a way to handle rapid shutdown since it will be on my roof...
  • Post in thread: Tesla Backup Gateway Transfer switch with Other battery banks

The gateway gen "one" uses rs485 battery to inverter. The disconnect switch is just a 12v actuated relay. I have some photos of the guts' if your interested in the gen one units. The nerurio is only compatible with tesla systems not online. The "brains" are in the gateway.
  • Post in thread: Ebay SolarEdge Optimizers Legit?

Correct? In looking at this is only Europe and seems to have only been allowed with the IOP P401Ii optimizers? I would be curious if this would functionally work on some of the older Opto's coming off market with all the upgrades happening.
  • Post in thread: Grid Tied Inverter with Neutral Loops?

HI All! Well getting ready to do the final permanent install for my XW+ in a grid tied inverter with AC coupling. I have been pouring over the documentation for wiring diagrams but the neutrals have been perplexing me? I have including a wiring diagram for reference. The XW+ units are...
  • Post in thread: Seplos Solar

No I have not received my units yet as well. I am starting to get worried, but in emailing with Adam seems like my FedEx tracking order is legit? He mentioned a week or so ago that the container would be in the US soon but yet we are still waiting. One more email back and then I think its a...

  • Post in thread: Grid-tie disconnect for interlock? Possible Shunt Trip breaker? SolarEdge W/ XW+ 6848?

Ok so I have this new install question for at my house so if any of you electricians or solar installers could help ? I have a grid tied solar edge feeding main panel. I want to install a new SE XW+ 6848 as backup and grid tie. The problem is I do not want, nor would I have a need for a...
  • Post in thread: Grid-tie disconnect for interlock? Possible Shunt Trip breaker? SolarEdge W/ XW+ 6848?

Thanks, Sadly yes I had to install a new all in one MSE so I am stuck with finding a method to pull the panel off grid. Most shunt trips are 110v so just thinking that I could put it on the Load side of the SE and it would actually power the disconnect? But yes one small error and it would fry...
  • Post in thread: Looking for a draftsman

Where are you and what do you need? I design here in the peoples republic... so its IRC 2018... But I know the older stuff as well.
  • Post in thread: Seplos Solar

Yes I ordered two of the mason units. I have a tracking number that will be 6 boxes when shipped (Seems about right) total 172#. The FedEx tracking number is referencing some Huin-Ocean invoice number and has a reference number that I believe is my order number. The location of origin is...
