Background
2 knowledgeable friends advised solar install in ~1995 for straw bale structure I built in remote area. Purchased (2020) adjoining small house that had a 15 year old system. Evidently (tripped GFDI’s) last summer, lightning went through solar panels and disabled Outback inverter (no sign of any internal damage). Added updated surge protection.

Replaced with drop in new version and set about putting together alternate system for backup and low inverter draw energizing of our Viasat Satellite Internet and various device charging, including charging capability of 72V electric bike build, washing machine, and vintage toaster. Also hoping to go low power during storms and not replace the decrepit generator that came with the house.

Issues with batteryhookup.com 24V “Beast” (they were fantastic with major refund) and different vendor Victron Phoenix 24V 1200VA dealing with multiple Low voltage disconnects. Northern Arizona Wind and Solar (Logan) was also excellent standing behind the product they sell.

No pretense here about being skilled or wise in the Way of Solar, but I do know how to execute a cross polarity.
