Anyone experimented with boosting solar panel output with a mirrored surface?

Guys, as the OP, I really appreciate all of your GREAT ideas and input, but again, I don't have room on top for more panels and there's no way to tilt the panels to get them out of the way of the two stacked surfboards that are on one side of the panels and the Thule cargo box that's on the...

Anyone experimented with boosting solar panel output with a mirrored surface?

I probably will sell my Delta 1300's after I buy and build out my bigger van, but for now I need to figure out the cheapest way to make a portable, foldable panel(s) that will reflect light on to my two panels.

Anyone experimented with boosting solar panel output with a mirrored surface?

I don’t have room for another panel on the roof which is why I am considering a portable and folding mirrored surface that I can quickly set up and take down and easily stow away because it’s thin. Just for the heck of it I put my front windshield cover on the roof next to my solar panels at...

Nah, can’t tilt them. Maybe next build I will do that though.

Anyone experimented with boosting solar panel output with a mirrored surface?

I really wanted to buy a 200 watt folding panel to supplement the 200 watts of flat fixed panels on my roof to charge my Ecoflow Delta 1300’s. Everyone at the Ecoflow FB page said it can’t be done because the voltage would exceed what the Delta 1300’s can handle.

Anyone experimented with boosting solar panel output with a mirrored surface?

The polished and coated mirrored panels he used are exactly what I’d like to buy. I tried to find the company, Aremet, in Canada he mentioned but couldn’t find the site. Will look for a source in the US. Thanks

Anyone experimented with boosting solar panel output with a mirrored surface?

I have two 100 watt Renogy panels mounted on the top of my Toyota Sienna minivan that charge my Ecoflow Delta 1300’s. I wish I had room for more panels but with a Thule cargo box on one side of the racks, 2 surfboards on the other side, and the two panels in the middle, theres just no more room...

✅ What’s Better For Van? Two Big Solar Panels or Multiple Smaller Panels?

I can hope for no shade but will plan and build expecting shade.

✅ What’s Better For Van? Two Big Solar Panels or Multiple Smaller Panels?

I have seen flexible panels mounted on top of Coroplast on YouTube too. I like the low weight and low profile.. My concern is about the efficiency of flexible panels though. If a good rigid panel is only about 20% then what is the efficiency of a flexible panel?

✅ What’s Better For Van? Two Big Solar Panels or Multiple Smaller Panels?

Do you bolt the 1515 rails into the factory threaded holes that are on the Transits roof?

✅ What’s Better For Van? Two Big Solar Panels or Multiple Smaller Panels?

Ah, another great point. My concern was that maybe the more cable connections there are (like there would be with many smaller panels vs just two big panels) that there might be more loss of power. Is that true?

✅ What’s Better For Van? Two Big Solar Panels or Multiple Smaller Panels?

Hmm, you might have a point there. Anyone else want to chime in on the concern that big 39.5 x 1.4 x 65.6 panels could be a problem on rough roads due to flexing?

✅ What’s Better For Van? Two Big Solar Panels or Multiple Smaller Panels?

Yeah, I wouldn't glue panel mounting brackets to a rubber roof either. My roof will be metal. Good point about the space the plastic mounting brackets take up though, plus those things are expensive. It would be a lot less expensive and easy to make my own brackets out of aluminum L angle. Drill...

✅ What’s Better For Van? Two Big Solar Panels or Multiple Smaller Panels?

I've seen lots of Youtube videos where they mounted rigid panels with those glue-on plastic feet and a year or two later there are still no issues. Polyurethane goop, like Sikaflex, is insanely aggressive and has proved itself in the marine environment for decades. I want to avoid holes as much...

✅ What’s Better For Van? Two Big Solar Panels or Multiple Smaller Panels?

I’ll be charging two Ecoflow Delta 1300 power stations (I already own them). The Delta 1300 accepts 400 watts max solar input and 65 volts max. I’m not sure yet whether to do series or parallel yet since the 320 watt Renogy panels are 24 volts each??
