Should Daly SOC read the same as the Smartshunt?

I've just reset the Daly to 3.58v. Interesting Seemed to take and extra 10 minutes to get there. Batteries seemed to balance a bit better too

Leaving a lead acid floating at 14.4.

I had a LA batteries for over 20years. It's best not to overfill, just make sure plates are just covered. 14.4v is no big deal. Could easily take them to 15 to equalize. Over time the plates will warp Depending how old they are can even throw caustic soda down each cell.

Should Daly SOC read the same as the Smartshunt?

So far they reach 3.4v every day. The Daly sits there a while and the induvidual cells jump around a bit. All within .03v The victron maintains charge and the Daly reduces current down to 2-5amps.. What I don't like is the lack of history on the Daly. I see everything on the Victron

    Lead Acid explosion

The first set was 12 x 2 volt 600 ah. Charging was so various. The last 5 years they were high maintanence and they used a lot of water. I recall I would equalize once every 2 weeks up to 30v. The batteries dod have an easy life here though. Atv the end I also threw caustic soda I them to...

    Lead Acid explosion

The lifepo4 are in the mudbrick house in a section off room with access outside only. Temp is 15c to 23c year round

Should Daly SOC read the same as the Smartshunt?

It eaily reaches 28.2v daily. By 10am. When you say %100 synced as often as possible, how often?. Daily. Weekly? In my area of rural West Australia are at least 4 others with Daly BMS. They all swear by them. This way I have a network of people to talk to if something goes wrong. Once the...

Should Daly SOC read the same as the Smartshunt?

That's a typo. Getting them to %100 can take a long time and not be very beneficial. I'm reading as much as possible on lifepo4 as am very new to these batteries. 20 years of lead acid has be thinking different. How often should the lifepi4 battery be synced to %100? I suppose they don't reach...

    Lead Acid explosion

My first set of lead acid batteries lasted 20 year so when Covid came, I upgraded my power system due to a failed battery. I hooked up the new battery set to a new Victron and installed an automatic watering system. Last month after 3 years of easy use the batteries were acting odd. Voltages...

Should Daly SOC read the same as the Smartshunt?

I don't know. The sum volt high protect is set at 28.7 but it never reaches that. From my limited understanding is that batteries SOC should be %20 -%80. Getting them to %100 can be take a very long time and nit vet beneficial

Should Daly SOC read the same as the Smartshunt?

If I have the absorption (28.2v ) any longer the bms doesn't take it in. The Daly also can be tweaked But will try it longer to see what happens.

Should Daly SOC read the same as the Smartshunt?

Have recently installed a balanced set of Lifepo4 batteries with a Daly bms. It's hooked up to my Eadysolar via a smartshunt. I control it all via 2 seperate apps and works good I think. Should both the Victron app and the Daly app have the same SOC reading. At the moment the Daly reads about...

Looking at the best way to go with equipment to go off grid in a few years time.

There is a dealer in Perth that removes solar panels and resells them. I think I bought 10x200w (36v) panels with racks for 900aud. These guys fill up containers with solar gear and ship to outback stations, and Africa.

Looking at the best way to go with equipment to go off grid in a few years time.

I'm over in WA and been offgrid for over 20 years. Don't sign anything until you're closer to the day. Find a sparkie you can work with as opposed to all the dealers. They often remove perfectly good systems because people are coerced into bigger systems. Rebates will only go to the dealers...

Daly and Victron set-up advice for Lifepo4 ?

Thanks. I would've thought 2.5volt way below any safe voltage. Does that mean the system shuts down when it hits 20 volts?

Daly and Victron set-up advice for Lifepo4 ?

I've just installed a 24v x 200ah lifepo4 (self build) after years of lead acid. I've been offgrid for over 20 years and only use about 1kw per day. Not a typo, It's a well designed house. I have plenty of solar charge. A friend who is knows lifepo4 has balanced the batteries before installing...
