This is NOT related to the batteries! Schneider support is useless. They also know that this is a bug in their inverter and even speak about it in the firmware release notes. What you are dealing with is exactly what I was dealing with. My post above fixes 90% of the problem, but since my...
There is some software bug on the Inverter side... it knows what mode the charger is in and when it is in Float, that is when the cycling occurs. So the trick of having the Recharge voltage set quite high, tricks the charger to go back to Bulk (after it entered Float) which will then transition...
No, I did not play with the PLS at all. The intent for my system is to use the batteries only as a means of backup when grid power is down and there is little or no solar.
My choice of buying the Schneider XW Pro with MPPT 100 600 charger was based upon the reputation of the hardware reliability. And I have to say that the hardware has been flawless thus far. It still amazes me that the inverter even fires up my 6 HP air compressor which has a locked rotor current...
I have not found SOC control to work properly, and the support techs admit as much. The Schneider hardware seems very good but the software is insane (I am a programmer). Are you happy with your setup now? If not, I could post my settings.... I found voltage control to work well.... but...
I don't know why Schneider says in the documentation that the MPPT and Inverter "battery voltages" have to be exactly the same, since by experimentation, I have not found an impact if they are slightly different ??!!
I also have slight voltage differences depending on where the voltage is...
I do not use the charger on the XW Pro so the "Cold" setting makes no difference. Also, I assume that for your battery the float voltage is specified as 54.6 ?? For mine, it is 54 and so that is the value I use. My Grid support SOC is lower at 95% instead of the 99% you have. In my case with 54...
Set the temperature to Cold... this is what I had to do. Then for my charger, I have a Temperature Coefficient under the battery setting which I had to set to -70 to get the best function.
Thank you for the picture! That is a perfect visual illustration of talking to Schneider tech support.... after a one hour hold listening to the dadada ding ding ding dadada ding ding ding "music"
In reply to 400bird...
Schneider needs to update the MPPT to actually be smart in the system and communicate properly.
Nowhere in the documentation is there an explanation that with LIPO4 batteries the sensor should not be used! And their tech support people say it should be used!
I had tried...
Unfortunately, all the information is available on the XANBUS but the MPPT makes no use of it! It could actually get the battery temperature from the BMS that is in the battery. The main issue however, is that the MPPT always thinks it has some sort of non-lithium battery and therefore tries to...
So the mystery is solved and I finally have all three systems working!!!
So many parameter settings on this Schneider system are:
Either undocumented as to how they are used.
Interact in undocumented ways (e.g. – The breaker amps value for the generator affects how many maximum sell amps you...
The goal of my solar system is as follows:
Keep the battery charged and never use it to support the load unless the grid goes down and there is no or insufficient PV.
At night, draw power only from the grid.
During the day, if PV is low such as clouds… supplement the house from the grid and...
Here are my settings
I should add a note to ElectricIslander that my inverter settings are to export up to 15 amps. So between the grid feed and the house loads, I am always using the maximum available from the PV.
