Who’s Afraid of Retail Electricity Rate Reform?

The article in the above link discusses a proposal California's for-profit utility corporations put on the table more than a year ago. The CPUC has moved away from that proposal and now is recommending charging most utility customers a monthly flat fee of $24. Poorer customers would pay less...

Be able to harvest 5610w out of 6630w solar panels today, it's 84.5%, what's yours ?

Nope, 3219. My PG&E meter was showing about 3100 Watts exported at the same time, which is consistent with my inverter reading minus vampire loads. This time of year my system often exceeds rated output on cool, partly cloudy days.

What are the actual FINES for unpermitted solar installations?

County assessors' offices in California scan satellite photos for unassessed property improvements because they have a strong financial incentive to do that. But since solar installations are exempt from property tax in California, your assessor shouldn't care if you have one, permitted or not...

Many people in California don't like PG&E because PG&E has killed more than 100 people in recent years (remember Paradise and San Bruno?), because PG&E has burned millions of acres of public and private land in recent years, because PG&E has destroyed thousands of homes, businesses, and other...

What you are describing often is called "balcony solar systems" or 'plug and play solar". Balcony solar systems are very popular in Germany and some other countries in the EU. They can be as simple as a single solar panel connected to a microinverter which is plugged into a wall socket, or...
