Hey Everyone,
I recently learned about converting pure sine (and modified sine) APC ups's into budget pure sine wave inverters. I decided to make a video series on it to share my findings and progress. The end goal is to mount my 2U UPS into a rolling music case with a much larger battery bank...
Posted part 2 (max charge voltage, inverter cutout voltage, etf) and part 3 (quickie about adjusting the cutoff voltage). Thinking of turning this into a mini power-wall to run my office. Thoughts? I got the cells already, just need bms, solar charge cont, solar panels.
Also gonna move to a...
The results are in! 25.86ah. Looks like it performs aok :)
My notes from the test:
-Charged to 3.68v (6amp rate, was down at 1.0amp when I pulled it off)
-Stable at 3.4v for the test start (Took me 30 mins to make cables, dropped to this voltage in that time)
-25amp load (1c discharge)
-Ran...
I totally hear you. Actually the major change from v3 to v4 was a comms issue. The i2c communication was struggling so he switched to opto-isolated serial.
For me the internet-less web interface and programmable relay controls are a big selling point versus the off the shelf stuff. Same with...
Pretty neat for those of us comfortable with assembling pcbs and loading Arduino code.
Fully modular, web interface, programmable relay outputs.
Here is someone's video on it vs the last gen.
A link to the GitHub with firmware and boards...
@erik.calco Thanks for the advice! Yeah I don't have the footage for soldering so that opportunity has passed :P. Maybe I'll make a short video explaining some of the techniques.
I'm planning on using an epever mppt or something similar. As for remote monitoring, I bet you could use the APC...
Hey Everyone,
I have 50 of these new 25ah 3.2v LiFePO4 cells for sale that are leftovers from a project. They are TopBand brand which I suspect is the same manufacturer as the Orient Power ones that Will tested on his channel.
I'm not sure about the legality of shipping these so I am only...
Hrmm. All the ones of those I'm finding are 40-60 amp max. I need 80 and 100. I think I'm just gonna go with the ones Will lists on his site. They're UL listed.
Thanks for the suggestion though. I'll definitely remember those for my solar install.
Also, Everlanders on youtube has this setup. 4 normally visible, expands out to 8 visible. Not sure if they have any videos that directly talk about it.
Y'all should check out the diyBMSv4. Relay output so you can run contactors and support whatever amperage you want.

@Rider I'm really surprised by that. Almost every inverter uses a decent amount of power (20-50Watts) to maintain the 120v output due to core losses (I think). I've seen them where they have a power save mode that applies some smaller voltage to the line to look for draw and that will use about...
So I've been trying to figure out how to make my own custom size bus bars and while Will's idea about hammering copper tubing is effective I wanted something that looks a little nicer.
I came across 1/16" and 1/8" by 1/2" copper strips at onlinemetals.com for reasonable prices. $7.01 and $12.55...
I know right. I scored a 60v-20amp adjustable supply and this tester for dirt cheap. Can test n charge 48v batteries no problem! I gotta pick up the usb adapter for this DC load. It will run full graphs on the pc software so you can plot the discharge curve.
Good points. I'll have to check my baterry's terminal material. I know one set of them are brass inserts and the other are studs of some type. I'll check that they aren't copper coated in something.
Yeah I read all the Fedex documentation and saw the same thing :(. 80wh blows past the limit lol. I wonder how Jehu Garcia's battery company ships all their stuff...
Also, not sure what b.james is on about with his comment. From what I can tell I'm priced even/cheaper than aliexpress and you...
Hey Everyone,
I got my hands on two more Magnum Energy Inverters. I have a MS4024PAE and a MS4448PAE for sale. These can be run in parallel using a ME-RTR (with the same model number, NOT 24v and 48v) to increase total output.
MS4024PAE:
24V Nominal
4000W Pure Sine
5800W Surge (5 second)
4800W...
